Hey guys!
This is one of those horrible i-haven’t-updated-in-forever apology blogs, as I really don’t have the time (or more correctly energy) to write very much now.
I have been meaning to write something for about the last fortnight, but, alas, the honeymoon period of the course is over. In September we studied Russian language from 10-3, three days a week and 10-1 for two. Now, our ‘early’ finish is at 3pm (Mondays and Wednesdays) when we study History, Geography and Literature (in Russian!!!!) and the other three days we have Russian language ‘till 4:30. And *then* we have homework. You may be surprised to find out that I am somehow managing to do all my homework the night it is given. Actually, this is for the good reason that ‘easy’ homework usually takes at least 2 hours. The worst lot so far took me 5. So by the time I have got in an hour after classes finish and done my homework and had dinner all I am capable of doing is collapsing onto the bed and sleeping…
Anyway, apart from being thoroughly exhausting (I think if I wasn’t living with Pasha I would never see him) I am having a really good time. Classes are challenging but not impossible and I am getting on much better with the language (though I can still only confidently speak about three or four subjects, as my vocabulary is seriously lacking) - we are even reading Pushkin in class (Pushkin for little kiddies, but it’s a start!)
Unlike Sammy, I am not lacking in fresh fruit and veg, though I am missing proper meat and sausages (boiled frankfurters aren’t quite the same) and parsnips. But I have been enjoying my sushki (traditional Russian hoop-shaped biscuits) and am currently satisfying my sugar cravings with condensed milk (either on bread or sushki).
Well, maybe it isn’t so short, but there is a hell of a lot more that I *could* say…
I will happily accept emails from anyone (nobody loves me anymore) and will reply far more quickly than I update ;-)
Anywho, bysies!
