Busy weekend

I had an amazingly busy weekend. Trent, a fellow student (Michael) and I had a ceramic sale. It was my professor's annual winter sale but he invited Michael and me to be a part of it and sell some of our work. I only sold 6 pieces, but that's 6 more than I expected. I know why I didn't sell that much; really, it's because my work is so simple ( Read more... )

I have had to deal with quite a few deaths in my life. The thing I found most amazing about death is age. Weird to say, But I'll explain. Many of the people who have died in my life have been very young. My cousin Heather died at age 6, my Aunt Merlyn died in her 50's, my friend Nicole died when she was 11, and 3 out of 4 grandparents died when my parents were just kids. What's sad here is that they didn't have a chance to live a full life, go to school, get married, have kids, have a career, retirement...write a book, whatever. I also had my grandfather and adopted grandfather die when they were really old (well my grandfather wasn't super old). Those two men had very eventful life. They had careers and retired. They had kids who had kids. They fought in wars etc etc etc. What's sad here is that they aren't around anymore and you can't invite them to graduations and ask them questions about your family etc. But there's something wonderful about having a grandfather live to see you graduate high school. There's a death to mourn, but also a life to celebrate. So my advice to you is to concentrate on the fullness of his life.
