Christmas vs. Knitting

Dec 26, 2006 00:28

Merry Christmas, all! It's been swell, if not a little odd, being in a different house and all. Much loot was aquired, but the real fun list is all the things i've knitted since i've been home, and all the things i have yet to be knitting:

knitted:
1 pair legwarmers (very cute and stripey)
1 pair half-fingery mittens
1 pair earflaps to be added to a hat to be knitted at a later date.

to knit:
-said hat
-hat for my dad
-cute bag from Knitty.

Clearly a major trip to Beehive is in order upon my triumphant return to Vic. Which I am missing muchly. My happy little room, the awesome christmas lights (a year-round staple) and the fridges that I hope got cleaned out at some point. I can't wait to get back, I find that whenever I'm at home in the 'mox I'm filled with this overwhelming feeling of stressful foreboding. Like every little worry that I would push out of my head in Victoria won't seem to get out.

On the subject of knitting with double-pointed needles: Curse you, you crazy 3-D logic puzzle of sharp and dangerous ends! It's all fun and games until Xander loses an eye, after all.

I have three episodes left of Doctor Who but I don't want to watch them because I can't imagine a world without Rose.

There are so many shows I really want to watch but often don't feel like or don't have time to watch. Friday Night Lights, Heroes, Torchwood, etc. etc.

Watch 30 Rock, it's awesome. Tina Fey rocks it and Alec Baldwin is absolutely magnificent.

So here's the scoop on The O.C.:

Season One: innovative, quirky and enjoyable.
Season Two: less innovative, more boring, more whiny, more plots you just.wish.would.end.
Season Three: why am i still watching this crap?? Johnny? seriously? we need ANOTHER of these "Marissa gets involved with a creepy-possibly-stalker-like guy who isn't Ryan, and honestly, if you had the choice between Ryan and ANYONE why would you ever even look at Johnny, let alone the rest of those chumps?"
Season Four: ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. Seriously. Between the lack of whiny Marissa, and the surprising fact that her little sister is not the horrible show-killer you were expecting and actually a welcome addition, not to mention the always illuminating Taylor Townsend, I am going to be very upset if this doesn't get renewed. The recent double-coma plot? So cliched that it was hilarious, right on target. The act of dealing with a main character death? Has been short and sweet but not lacked any of the needed depth.

The O.C.  writers had it to begin with,  got cocky and lost it, but they've managed to pull their heads out of their asses and find it again.
And thank god, because I actually look forward to this show every week.

Post Christmas TV Wishlist:

-Wilson and House, please reconcile, I need the HoYay back.
-Gilmore Girls writers, please take a cue from the O.C. writers and find it again. I know you're lost without the Palladinos, but for god's sakes, have an episode where SOMETHING OF IMPORTANCE ACTUALLY HAPPENS. please. Also, Luke and Lorelai? Back together already, plz.
-Bones? Don't stop. Abso-bloody-wonderful. Much better this season, improving so good. Chemistry is to die for, and already two episodes this season of the same caliber as "Two Bodies in the Lab"
-Grey's Anatomy, you keep it up too. But then you and I have never had a real problem.
-Justin Timberlake: Please join the SNL cast permanently.

Aaand, two shows of which I expected a second season slump but was pleasantly surprised at a lack of:

-The aforementioned Bones
-How I Met Your Mother

These are a must-watch.

Ok. That's it. I'm done.

house, justin timberlake, knitting, 30 rock, the o.c., grey's anatomy, christmas, how i met your mother, gilmore girls, bones, snl
