"merdeka" means "Independance". And today is my country's 43rd independance.
Seeing those people on tv celebrating only because of the concerts and their chance to see their favourite artist is pretty upset that they dont know the REAL meaning of independance...
My grandfather was a Sergeant Major, and he faught for my country's indepandance, against the gruesome Japanese Army. I heard storied of how my great grandparents used to live, from their own mouth, when i was 10 years old and they were around 80-90 years old. Stories like -- climb the coconut tree for the coconut, for the Japanese Soldiers to drink, or else they'll shoot you -- One of my relatives tried to hide the only he has, sugar fresh from the sugar cane, by hiding on top of a tree. When a few Japanese soldier are passing by the tree, and he got unlucky that the bag has a hole and sugar starts to out little by little to the ground..the Japanese look up and saw him. He was punished. The punishment was: they force you to drink water from a tap, non-stop, until you cant take it anymore. Then the Jap.soldier will hit your stomach with the back of their rifle until the water comes out from your mouth..and they repeat the same thing...until he died.. --
Pheww.. there's load of stories..
To all the fighters and warriors who fought bravely during the war to stand for their rights and the freedom of our country, I owe u my respect.. ( I always love my country's history besides The Third Reich!) ^_^
