[ And still, the GMs are nowhere to be found. But at least your body's unharmed, right? Maybe it was just a bad dream. ]

Kain wakes cursing and swearing in a blur of two or three mangled languages; and really the cacophony does no justice to the one in his head.

He had no idea what was going on or what he wasn't remembering, but every fibre of his being was telling him that this very mental fog was familiar and something hated.

"What is ..."

((no clue where he might be; I haven't been in the game long enough to find a guild X3;; he used to camping rough, though ~))

The first thing Kain might notice in the room is the sight of dusty red hair. Richter didn't much care for either humans or half-elves but he wasn't heartless enough to just leave a former companion out on the streets. So he had pulled the fellow Blade Brandier into the nearest inn after leaving Albel with a blue haired youth. The somewhat volatile display of Kain's awakening was just enough to cause Richter to jump in surprise before settling down next to the bed, a mug of tea in his hands.

"If the end of that sentence is 'happening' then you're not the only one with that question." said the half-elf. "How are you feeling?"

Because if Kain was as confused as Richter was, then the former researcher had doubts about how much information he could pick up from this interview.

The motion caught his attention and quieted the stream of invectives, though it took a few addled moments of sifting through memory to place Richter as a more recently-encountered companion of sorts. Red hair; it was not a common thing, red hair, some part of him felt the need to note ...

Sagging back against the bed, Kain shook his head slowly. He felt leaden, and his eye half-closed as he clumsily scrubbed at his face.

"... Weighted. Weak, like a paralysis -- spell, undead, whatever you want -- or when I was down with the hammer-lung and coughing blood ..."

... When had that happened, precisely? Damned mind fog ...

"... Weighted in the head to go with it. Hard to think, harder to recall -- to clearly recall anything. Like trying to think through wool."

Turning his head to eye Richter, he lifted a brow.

"You said I'm not the only one asking that question -- and I don't remember coming here. What did you see happen?"

[the tension in the air is steadily growing. Even the NPCs are starting to fret about the players who have fallen unconscious. Whatever idea you had about The World was slowly being turned on it's head]

It made no sense. It made no sense and he could barely keep straight one thought from another ...

I am not going to waste to nothing without a fight. Even Edward --

Wait.

... Damn it!

Stubbornness was starting to set in, now, and Kain heaved himself from the bed in the room Richter had arranged for him -- heedless of whether he was fully dressed or not -- and headed towards the door.

[and again, the strange dream of the twilit town... Only there's something not quite right about it anymore]

[waking up is easier to do now and despite everything that's happened, anything an unaffected character says actually appears to be plausible to the Lost Ones... But then what were they doing up till then?]

The first two times waking up hadn't been pretty; he'd been conscious long enough to only ask questions of Leviathan and later Phantom (he must have been hallucinating if he saw Phantom of all people). Yet there was no sign of Master X anywhere and... He didn't know, didn't remember, couldn't tell which one was worse. All he wanted was to go back to Neo Arcadia...

"Hnngh..." He reached up to rub his face; this was getting out of hand. The last time his head felt this broken apart was when the Baby Elves had possessed him-

Harpuia sat up with a gasp at the memory, only to almost fall over again. The sense of drowsiness wasn't completely gone yet but at least he was slowly waking up from it all? Now... To try and blow away the fog in his own head.

[ They may not realize it yet, but this is the fourth and last time the affected and unaffected players will be able to meet in this strange limbo between worlds. The affected are fully cognizant, having no trouble separating the two whens and wheres, and everyone's discernable right away. But then... what happened? Why was their memory fuzzy for long?

And better yet, what was the purpose behind the week and a half game? It seems they'll have just a few more hours to contemplate that with the others in Mac Anu, and only a couple more days to band together and try to get everyone affected on the same track back in -- reality? The dream? Okay, so maybe it wasn't so easy to differentiate one world from the next. But the distintion was there, nonetheless.]
