Ugh, snow be gone

I either want the snow to melt completely or for it to snow so hard Jake will actually have to stay home from work. THis lingering last remnant of crappy icy stuff is just irritating now.
I haven;t really left teh house in a while. We've been sick, that's my excuse, but really I just don't much enjoy leaving the house at the moment. It's cold and slippery and hard to maneouvre a pram and a going-on-four year old (jeebass.) So instead we stay in and in and in.

Excitingly though, I've  been doing some tutoring, an a-level student doing some re-sits. And I've got a new student starting on Thursday. I'm really looking forward to it, I love tutoring and it's so nice to actually get to use my skills. I'm good at teaching and I'm good at English and it's nice to be able to just revel in that a little bit! (Oh, ego, how enormous you are!)

Orlaith still has an appalling cold and a really bad cough. She was supposed to go to pre-school today but she had a bit of a temperature and was rather miserable. It's just a virus, I took her to the doctor's the other day to double check there wasn't any kind of chest infection and she's all good on that front. We've all got it, she's just got a really ugly sounding cough.

Esme is starting to toilet train a bit. She gets very excited whenever she hears the word toilet and wanders around plaintively saying "wee-wee. Poo, poo. Wee-wee. Poo." until someone agrees to help her sit on the potty or the toilet. She mostly enjoys wiping herself with toilet roll though. For some reason she just really loves to do that. It's kind of cute, she perches on the toilet all by herself, like one of those toilet trained cats.

Right now, at this moment she's attempting to escape from the kitchen. She's figured out that she needs to turn the door handle and that she 's too small to reach it. So she's dragged a chair across, parked it in front of the door and is now standing on the chair, desperately twiddlign the door handle. She has yet to figure out how to actually make it work, or that if she stands on the chair right there the door cannot open. But you have to admire her tenacity. She's really working that handle :->

I should go remove her from the chair before somethign bad occurs.

esme, orlaith
