Sporadic and Random

Today is Jake’s birthday, he’s 29. He has the day off to spend with us, HUZZAH!

When I told Orlaith it’s Daddy’s birthday today, she said happy birf day to you Daddy. Nawww.

Everything is going okay, I hardly ever get a chance to log on and update at the moment as we’re staying with Jake’s Mum and they only have internet access in the evenings or at weekends. They can have access at other times, it just costs more. Anyway, Jake needed to check cinema times for taking Orlaith to the cinema so in for a penny, in for a pound.

Pregnancy stuff is ticking on. I am 9 weeks or thereabouts today. Morning sickness is vile, unsurprisingly, and has been slightly worse than last time. I spent last Monday morning hurling and the rest of the day curled up on the couch feeling pale and wan. Haven’t puked again since then, but I feel sick on and off the whole day which makes me a lot of fun to be around, I can tell you. Jake says the baby’s name is Groucho because it makes me grouchy. Actually, it’s because he had decided the baby was triplets and we can’t call one baby by all three Marx Bros names.

So Groucho it is.

Tuesday last week was both horrible and fun. Horrible for reasons I won’t go into as they have subsequently resolved themselves a little, and fun because of DINOSAURS.

Nic and I took Orlaith to the Natural History Museum and we spent hours looking at DINOSAURS … and some other stuff like elephants and tigers and so forth. But it was the dinosaurs that were the stars of the show. She LURVED them. Her favourite one is Tyrannosaurs Rex - of course. She had fun creeping up on the skeletons and then shouting “ROAR!” to surprise them, and she kept telling everyone to listen, with her hand behind her ear. There was an animatronic T Rex and Nic held her up so she could look. I think she would have happily stayed there watching it for the rest of the day!

I bought her an explorer’s hat which she wore for the rest of the visit, a fluffy t-rex, which she loved and has unfortunately subsequently lost, and a little plastic bag full of dinosaurs. She plays with them all the time, she croons to them and sings “Oh, sweety, oh Sweetapie”. She’s even managed to find the t rex in there and on Saturday she was holding it by its tiny puny arms and dancing it round and round.

She can say Tyrannosaur, and dinosaur and moooseeum.

Unfortunately on our way back to the train home we got a pram wheel stuck in an escalator, so our pram is cactus. I was pretty much housebound till Saturday, then we bought a new cheapo pram. We can go for walks again, which makes me happy as I have no desire to transform into a bucket of lard like last time round. NO thanks.

One of the problems of having no internet access is that Orlaith is saying and doing so many things and by the time I actually get a chance to sit down and record them, I;ve forgotten, so I may yet have to crank up my paper journal again.

Anyway, we’re off out to Cambridge for the day, then Jake and I are going out for dinner at a local Chinese restaurant and Pat’s babysitting the Puffin Muffin.

Hopefully I will get a chance to update again before too long, if not, hope every one is well. I’m trying to make sure I check on my f-list and keep up to date, but if I’ve missed anything major, please let me know. Shani, I am still sending positive thoughts for you and your family, I hope everything is as okay as it can be.

Oh and Nic, BOOSH TEASERS, on the telly! BOOOOOOOOOOSH!
