He's so cute, I just love his ears! I've been admiring him from afar at GoS, so it's great to be able to have my own personal version. :)
Can I ask a really daft question? Since you've edited his face in Milkshape, will there be any sort of clash with my default-replacement face templates (for example, if/when he produces offspring)?
Thanks for not thinking it was a doofus question, and for doing that test!
I shall be most interested to see what happens in my game, and I don't actually mind if his genetics are dominant, as it should shake up my gene-pool rather nicely. ;)
From what I can tell, individual sim files actually carry a mesh of the face in them, and then the facial characteristics are randomly assigned dominance or not for the genetics.
I have too many fingers in too many pots, but it'd be really fascinating to be able to put together a set of templates that are still within normal bounds for game breeding, but have been adjusted in Milkshape to go beyond game slider limitations.
That makes sense. And I think after each characteristic is chosen from one parent or the other, slider shifts are applied.
The weird part is where the information for the other ages goes. Because I can make a sim with, say, pointy ears in just one age and package that one, and the other ages still show up the same. That is, sans pointy ears.
I'll be there within a month or two if I keep going the way I have. I have ten of... 27 I think. 28 counting alien.

Not in my experience. Milkshaped sims carry their genetics internally some how.
We download sims from people with different default templates all the time, it shouldn't function any different. :)
I removed my template and ran another baby making test with another random sim I downloaded.

Yeah, the only thing to worry about with template sims is that their genetics often overwhelm the slider-made parent.
