So, you'll be seeing me around the internet more often now, yay! No more sneaking a peek at LJ during work after this weekend :P
We are the proud owners of a brand-spankin' new house! And when I say brand-new, I say BRAND-NEW, no one else has ever lived in it before, the driveway still isn't done, there's no grass or a fence, and no appliances brand-new! It's a 3-bedroom house (master bedroom is huge with an onsuite) and a full, unfinished basement, and an ATTACHED two-car garage!! It's a light yellow colored house, and probably the plainest-looking new house ever built. But it's ours. There's only one problem, though...
We could only afford it (very affordable) because this place is an hour one-way drive out of town, in a hole of a place called Rycroft. A small, pathetic town (actually, it's a "village" 'cause it's not even big enough to be a "town" yet :P ) One of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it places. Actually, I wouldn't mind it so much if it weren't for the fact that a person that I absolutely detest, who has no moral standards or any respectable attributes, lives there. That's what makes the village of Rycroft such a hole.
So, why are we going to be living there? One, a falling apart ancient house in grande prairie does not sell for under $200,000 'cause it's so freakin' expensive to live in that city, and two: living in Rycroft is intended to be temporary anyway.
A loooong while back, in February, we got a killer deal on some land (10 acres) just outside of Grande Prairie from an old friend of the family. Months later, the land was finally registered under our name, but with a catch--it MUST be subdivided :( Subdividing means breaking the ten-acre parcel into several smaller chunks, with an access road to each, and accessable to utilities. In other words, a process that we can't afford to undertake! However, we have a plan. Our land sits quite literally right next to a HUGE acreage subdivision being built. Which means that everyone and their dog would LOVE to get their hands on our property to take advantage of the money-making opportunities. We have talked to a house developer, Canadiana Homes, who is drooling over a deal we've come up with. Canadiana will purchase most of the land at a dirt-cheap price and offer to subdivide it all themselves free of charge. They can build their homes there (which are really nice homes) and do whatever. However, instead of giving us cash for this, they'll use that money to build us a few houses on the land that we keep. Sweet! We keep one, and sell off the rest.
It sounds like a farfetched plan, but Canadiana has already agreed to do this. All Joe has to do is give the official "OK" (after we receive the keys to the house in Rycroft), and then the process will start. (Joe bought a SUIT for such an occassion! *squeeeee!* ) And, if for some reason that doesn't pan out, my bosses want to make a similar arrangement with our land.
So, yeah. Lots of stuff happening! I hope everything works out! *crosses fingers* We should start moving in Rycroft this weekend, hopefully. I'm trying to convince myself that the killer commute isn't so bad, ha-ha. Hopefully our house on our land will be finished before the first snowfall. (Hopefully!)
In the meantime...
Finally watched Howl's Moving Castle the other day.
In the fandom world, there is a type of fangirl who chooses a bishounen as her favorite character for the sole reason that she thinks he's hot. This Alfbie could never be so shallow! However, there is an exception to everything. *wistful sigh* To say it bluntly, Howl is gorgeous. He's so cool! This Alfbie has fallen under his spell and fangirls him at every precious chance. Am I crazy, or are there others out there that know his allure? My husband teases me about it :P I'm trying to look for the book, 'cause I heard it was vastly different, but better. Then I shall write a review comparing the book to the movie, coated with sugary fangirling sweetness over Howl that will make a raving Sephiroth fangirl nervous! You have been forwarned...
I want to do a few fanfic memes. However, I've been feeling very "blah" lately. I'm disliking myself right now, because this normally very sweet person has been somewhat of a bitch to those she loves lately, both in RL and with a few on the f-list. I don't know why, but it bothers me to the point of tears. I really hate myself sometimes. It's no wonder I have difficulty being acknowledged :( Maybe if I'm in a better mood, I'll do some memes. I dunno.
Also, I submitted an application to be a judge of the
shikon_awards last week sometime, after the encouragement of a certain, wonderful
reiku_toukijin. However, the fact that I still haven't heard back from them is making me nervous and antsy. I probably didn't get the "job". After all, they wanted samples of my work, so that's probably what did me in. That or my poor explanation as to why I'd be a good, fair, unbiased judge. Eh, oh well. Maybe I'm justing being impatient :P
