Mt St Helens - Thirty years after - renews Herself; new growth, new glaciers around the rebuilding lava dome.  This is a different angel from the previous post of this awesome, fascinating and very much alive mountain volcano. Probably the most studied volcano yet. What you see here in the valley is upwards of 600 feet of ash, pumice and rock from the explosion of May 18, 1980 deposited in the Cowlitz River headwaters. Around the Lava Dome inside the crater are 2 glaciers that have built and joined on the lower side of the Dome. Magnificent processes of Nature that we have watched and studied for thirty years now.
