Friday I had a busy day at work. It was our end of month, which is always busier than usual and it was the end of our fiscal year, so that makes it a LOT busier than usual. I got into the office at six so that I could leave on time. I needed to leave on time so that I could make it to play practice. We had a lot less participation in Halloween than we usually get at my company.
At play practice we blocked the Mummer’s scene. Blocking was great. My actors greatly showed their comedic talents. We really made the scene come to life.
After blocking I thought I was going to hang out with Erin, but she unexpectedly invited Chris and Jo to join our little adventure. I felt surprised by this but I guess I should not have been. Erin wants as big of an audience as she can maintain. Tommy had some other plans but at the last moment he changed gears and joined us. After gathering at Silver Cliff, Chris drove us up to Red Rocks for a moment of time outside of the city. We walked around a bit and everyone felt kind of freaked out. Erin was probably the most freaked out. After a few times f almost going over the edge Erin asked us to sing, so to help calm her nerves so we sang a few Christmas carols. That did well at mellowing us out. On our way walking back to our car a police car stopped and the office asked, lackadaisically, if we knew what time the park closed. We affirmed that we did not and he told us 1100. It was just passed and we said we were on our way out. He accepted our explanation then he drove onwards. We returned to the car and made our way home, uneventfully. Erin felt very chilly and withdrawn during the car ride home.
It was still fairly early so the rest of us went out to Asa-gohan-sama and saw an interesting variety of people in costume there. Saturday I woke up early for our first practice session with the younger members of our play. It went very well. I felt a bit nervous working with such a mixed age group. The youngest participant is around four and the oldest around fourteen. John helped me out tremendously to get started. The children are already well on their way towards learning what we need them to do.
We had writers group right after practice down at Solid Grounds. It went well. In the evening we Attended the Tattered cover movie series with Howie Movshovitz. They were screening “The 39 Steps” directed by Hitchcock.
