We had our first rehearsal with the Orchestra and it went very well. The efficiency of the orchestra surprised me because we did very little re-work. That is a little unusual. IN the past we often had to run cues a few time for the orchestra to gain confidence. This new way is cool, but slightly unnerving.
We also had the children on stage. They are so wee and adorable. The ratio is even more skewed. It now feels like we have about 100 daughters in the village. Tevye's claim to five now feels completely ordinary for this village.
During Anatevka we sing a song to commemorate our village because we are being force out. We wondered if the Jews in the other communities were also singing songs of homage to their villages at the same time. "Rab-a-lev-ka"
We did not exactly follow the posted schedule, which indicated we were only going to practice the music from act one. That goofed me up a bit, but I rolled with it the best I could.
