...and good thing too because we are all winded." And by "winded" I mean that just about everyone in the cast is now infected with the nasty little sore throat that has been floating around. I was lucky enough to not feel the effects until yesterday's final performance.
I have had singing performances quite a few times while fighting a cold, or some such. While it can be done, for I sincerely believe that if are alive and have all limbs intact then the show must go on, it takes a huge amount of effort to perform past such a distraction. When not engaged in a performance my usual coping strategy with an illness is to float in a sea of mental absence and woolly-headedness. Such a strategy is totally incompatible with the presence and sharp-mindedness required of putting on a skilled performance.
I really enjoyed working with this cast and anticipate feeling the pain from their sudden absence later today when I don't go to any kind of play practice on a Monday evening. Yet the sore throat, and my desire for sleep will probably help mitigate that sensation for now.
Thank you to everyone of my friends who participated int the play. Plus a big thank you to everyone to helped us out by being an audience member, with many of you attending the play multiple times.
