I was going to do a Christmas...or somewhere around then entry. As you see, that didn't work out.
Then I was going to do an LJ mobile entry. I didn't realize that:
A) It needs to be set up (which uses the internet).
B) You need a phone with a signal (which out in the boon-docks of Tennessee, you will not get).
I think I got a pretty good haul this year. Here's what I got:
Jeeves and Wooster box set
Life with Jeeves book of short stories
Rattaouille soundtrack
The Princess Bride special edition (What I really wanted was the book that came with it...oh well.)
A make-up mirror
A german coloring book (It's really cool!)
A cat memes calendar (This is so amazing. Almost beats my Wallace and Gromit calendar. Key word: almost.)
Seven pairs of socks and three hats. (My grandma would loose them, then buy more.)
Gift cards: 2 iTunes, Old Navy, Alloy, and Claire's.
Jewelry: a pin with a poodle on it (you can't make this stuff up), charm bracelet, a butterfly bracelet, and necklace.
Some more jewelry and a spa kit from my friends. I didn't mention the huge solid Hershey's kiss!
Hey, if you gave me something, thanks! I really appreciate it. And if you didn't, the best gift would be a comment. Just a comment. It could be gibberish, for all I care. It just feels like nobody reads what I have to say. It's just...never mind.
Continuing on, this year was a tough year because I have been sick since finals. Then, I go to AR and TN and my parents can't or won't take me to the doctor.
So I'm hacking and coughing. Then my AR grandparents are fighting...but I get a really nice sleep from the hotel we stayed at. We've never stayed at a hotel before, but I guess my grandparents need a break. A lot of them. I got a king size bed to myself. It was so nice. My AR Grandparents are usually the ones I fit in with the best. I seem to have more fun with them, anyway.
Then, we drive to TN. It's long and when we get there, it's dark. We stay at my Pa's house (he's technically my step-grandpa, but since I always called my real grandpa, uncle....and he's dead, he's more my grandpa. That really didn't make much sense...moving on.) And I sleep on the couch. Looking back, I think I might have been allergic to that couch, because I didn't sleep much through my hacking fits.
Christmas morning is less hectic because my two elementary-age cousins aren't there. Then, they come later and it's pretty chaotic. And annoying. I love both of them, but sometimes I get over-exposed to little kids. Then, my dad and I are out of place because all the men in this side of the family:
A) Hunt
B) Farm
C) All of the above
My dad is a professor of music at our local college. o_0 I'm out of place because I'm not southern (and don't want to be), or even from around there. Then my Aunt Heidi told my dad and I that she hopes that her kids aren't musical, because it would annoy her. That also got under our skin. Dad and I acctually kept a small bon-fire going (in the rain) so as not to go inside. It was like the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. "All the noise, noise, noise!"
So we left the day before yesterday. I bought a giant fake wall clock from a decorating store (and crashed my cart into a giant pineapple fountain and it fell over.) Like I said, you can never deny the usefulness of a giant fake wall clock. We drove back through AR and stayed at the hotel.
We are home now. Thank goodness. Now I can go to the doctor. YAY!!!
real life,
christmas
