We're looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the cocktail party on Saturday. You're all welcome, and there's no obligation to bring anything except yourselves. However, people often ask if there's anything they can bring, so here, in nerdy detail, is the answer...
Firstly, food: We will try to provide some food, but if you would like to bring some:
- Vegetarian food will surely get eaten
- Vegan food is probably best, but by no means compulsory
- But bring anything you like except raw meat - as we have nowhere to put it.
The possible range of drinks - including non-booze - falls into three main categories. (If it's not in one of these, then either we already have enough, or we have no particular expectation of needing any.)
The first category is drinks we can always use:
Gin
Vodka
Tequila (although we have already been offered some - many thanks,
hazyjayne!)
Sparkling wine (Asti spumante, prosecco, cava, Australian equivalents - not that there's anything wrong with Champagne, but these tend to be cheaper and IMHO a bit nicer on balance)
Curaçao (blue and triple sec versions especially)
Fruit juice (Especially orange, apple, cranberry, passion fruit, pineapple)
The second category is drinks we really like, but don't need/want much of:
Golden rum
Spiced rum
Rye whiskey
Calvados/applejack/pommeau
Schnapps
Crème de framboise (not much hope, but it's worth mentioning)
Crème de menthe
Tia Maria/Kahlua/Crème de Café
The third category is drinks that we will not use because of their ingredients:
Baileys and other cream-based liqueurs
Unfortified red wine
Campari
Advocaat
But remember - no-one is obliged to bring anything!
If you know you're going to bring a specific thing, please post here so that there's less duplication.
Please also comment here if you need directions to the flat.
