so tonight we had flash floods all through out the area. My mom told me to take the main roads home...and i forgot to listen. en route home, my usually passageway was blocked off. i saw tow trucks so i thought there were wrecks. so i took a parallel route....I had about a second to realize why there were barricades on my way. i hit a blanket of ( Read more... )

Ouch. Just friggin ouch.

I'm not sure how well those things hold up to water damage. If the electrical system is given ample time to dry out, you might be ok, but nothing is guaranteed.

It sucks about the car, it really does, but I do hope you realize that that could have been SO much worse. You could have not had the time to get the window down before the pressure difference built up, you could have not been able to make it back to safety, it could have been below zero and you would have been in severe danger of hypothermia... You are a lucky man if possessions are all you lose.

nothing major was in the car, laptop was sitting at home. thankfully. we removed the battery and some fuses from under the hood to dry out, removed the air intake it was flooded. we vacuumed out as much water as we could. the thing was completely flooded : ( i just hope the fuse block in the dash and the electronics behind the dash were insulated enough. we were told we may be able to get it running after it has dried sufficiently. so around sunday we are going to try it. *crosses fingers* today REALLY sucks. but yeah I am physically fine. it could have been so much worse.

Might want to give it a bit more time if it keeps raining like this.

This is why i don't like the rain. I may be taking the parkway, just out of fear of being near the area where this happened.

Come on, bud. I can understand being more cautious in that area, or on wet roads in general, but don't let fear set in. When we've had this much rain, yeah, it's much wiser to avoid the back roads, but don't change your driving habits just because of this. Just, take some deep breaths, relax, life moves on. Things will be ok.
