I've not been watching the Prem much recently, although that should change this weekend. On Saturday, Aston Villa- Spurs is the most interesting game of the day, I'll be supporting Villa, as Spurs are getting on a bit too well for my liking. I do like Spurs (although not their manager so much), especially as they're a fun team to watch, and I'm vaguely favorable to Villa- anyway should be a good game against two evenly matched teams.
Also on Saturday is Genoa- Sampdoria - a derby, both teams with a reputation for being fun to watch. I didn't watch any Italian matches last weekend, so this should make it up. If I want to OD, the other games I'd watch are Werder Bremen- Wolfsburg and Valencia- Mallorca (probably important to watch Valencia with Davids Silva and Villa while we still can).
Sunday is the really big day, starting the Merseyside Derby at Goodison, it's this game that has the most riding on it for me. Liverpool have been crap recently and really need a win, so do Everton. For my part, I can't see Pool keeping a clean sheet, as for Everton, I've not watched them since the opening day of the season, although I did a double take when I saw them three nil down to Hull in the first half during the midweek. I don't want to say any more...
Then up is a London Derby, Arsenal- Chelsea. I expect Chelsea to win, I hope they don't. Watching matches where I expect Chelsea to win rarely gives me any pleasure ( I am happy for Chelsea to beat Man Utd and Man City basically anytime they feel like it) and as a result, I watch very few Chelsea matches- the last I watched them was against Man Utd, a horrid game with few redeeming features. Arsenal I tend to feel neutral to vaguely annoyed by about- I usually like watching them play, although I'm not someone who worships aesthetics and the frequent combination of smugness and lack of backbone grates.
Finally is Barcelona- Real Madrid. I don't really like either team- Madrid and their money, thinking all their problems can be solved by overpaying for ___ player, while Barcelona's angelic goodness is hard to take. I think I'll start by cheering for Barca, and then go for whoever is losing. I like several players on both teams- Xavi and Iniesta from Barca, Casillas from Madrid, while both also have some I can't stand- Alves and Pepe come immediately to mind. Xabi Alonso should be on that first list- last year he was my very favorite player- but I've not gotten over his leaving my team. Maybe one day, providing Liverpool ever get their act together.... Anyway, whatever else, I hope there's a ton of drama.
That's more than enough matches for anyone... but if that's not the case for you, there's also Inter- Fiorentina and the trainwreck that is Atletico trying to get their second(!!!) win of the season at home to Espanyol. Oh man
