The president can order the assassination of anyone, including a US citizen, anywhere in the world, far from any recognized war zone.

US intelligence agencies have ridiculously broadened their surveillance powers; to defend them, the Department of Justice conducts a relentless war on whistleblowers in the name of "national security" and "state secrets".

The Supreme Court considers speech and association to be "material support" for terrorism.

Nobody gives a shit about fair trials, due process, or even double-checking the identity of the accused.
