Job Hunting

May 25, 2010 12:04

I'm going to be rambling about job hunting for a while as I try to drum up some enthusiasm. I have just re-registered for http://iProfile.org as they seem to have lost my details from years ago. On the plus side their system is very good at parsing my CV and has pretty much identified everything I want agencies or possible employers to see.

I have just pruned my "Interests" section as it looked like I was just out of college. It now says: Writing and Reading Science Fiction - especially humor. I am currently on the committee of ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha: The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy fanclub. I keep this in because almost every software engineer I have ever met in an interview likes HHGttG.

I am only looking for 90% Java work now - but most of my CV says I do perl and C++. *sigh*. I'm trying to play down those aspects and point out that I basically write Object Orientated software.

I wonder if they have a facility for exporting iProfile to MS Word.
