I tried the demo for "Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness" (which is available on the PC through Steam), and I was quite impressed. The battles are turn-based like the old Final Fantasy games, with the opportunity to block or counter attacks like in Paper Mario. Plus, the first skill you get uses a Judgment Ring to determine how much damage you'll dish out.
And as a bonus, you guys can finally get around to playing Portal once you get Steam installed.
