I have been tremendously entertained over the past few days by the soap opera shenanigans around Sarah Palin (who I think might still be a canny choice for VP - that, or batshit insane), but the most important thing, really, is:

Track Palin. Would hit that.

this entire story reminds me of a neighbour of mum and dad's at the village fete a few years back

a: this guy told ppl he wasn't comin cz he wz trying to "go dry" after the doctor told him he had to cut out all alcohol
b: then he turned up anyway very merry...
c: ... and drank lots more
d: finally collapsing right across the beer table, knocking everything everywhere
e: he was then rushed to hospital

(disclaimer: he actually has gone dry, and in much better health -- tho he is very frail and halt these days)

it always amuses me when cityfolk assume that country life is somehow more stable and bland and less bonkers than life in the capitol: NONE of what's come out about this enormously entertaining woman surprises me at ALL; she should of course be on the actual proper libertarian* ticket, where we could all adore her properly and safely

*breaking news: her former membership of the alaskan independence party, which is as sane as free kernow

A secessionist party! Sez the current AIP vice chair:

But you get along to go along - she eventually joined the Republican Party, where she had all kinds of problems with their ethics, and well, I won’t go into that. She is the anti-American Trojan horse that the Reps have been trying to paint Obama as! If McCain wins the election she will shoot him with her hunter's gun the very next day and FREE ALASKA~~~
