Losing books sucks. Catching yourself in being stupid for no good reason sucks (I should know, I do it all the time). And losing things with sentimental value is worst of all :-(

I hope you get them back; in any event, I want to bless you for NOT blaming the hotel staff; believe me, most people DO when THEY lose things.
