Marathon

Ok so! I totally didn't think I was going to do this but I just experienced my first author marathon. I literally got up, went to the airport, went home at around 12:30 PM, reorganized my flash drive and started working on a WIP that had 5 pages and didn't stop till 4:55 AM the next morning (this morning) and wrote another 43 pages without so much as a stop.

Alright, so I got up to pee, eat, drink, and change the music channel but still that is a hell of a lot of writing. And I didn't even finish it!

I remember starting it in January, I think, and thinking "Oh! This is a good idea for a oneshot. Short, sweet, filled with everything everybody loves! Namely smut, angst, action, intrigue, fluff." Alright so my eyes are bigger than my stomach, but come on! I was on a roll! I wrote 5 whole pages in one night! That was something, you know.

Anyhoo, I opened it up and began to write. It was like my fingers were freaking possessed! They just would not quit! Not that I was complaining; I wrote some awesome shit, if I do say so myself. At one point I thought that my eyes were going to fall out of my head. I hadn't gotten more than 6 or 7 hours of sleep the night before and it literally felt like the skin on my face was going to fall off by the time I took another break at 10:30 PM.

Soon I realized that what I thought was a nice, semi-long oneshot was turning into a 3 headed monster with a diamond necklace and feather boa. I don't even think FF.net will be able to load a document this long (and longer by the time it's finished) much less LJ. It won't have quite as many chapters as my other multi chapter stories are getting to be, but I think that it will be a nice size when it's finished. It might have less chapters but it will probably have just about as many Word pages.

I eventually decided I needed to get some sleep at 4:55 AM this morning and ended a section at 48 pages. That, for me, is one hell of a record. And I have several WIP that i have neglected to break up into multiple chapters and they are pretty damned long, but this one took the cake. It isn't even one of my more obtuse plot lines!

Anyhoo, I hope ya'll have been at least slightly entertained by my commentary on my marathon. I should get back to writing and finish that monster before I lose my steam.

Live Long, Prosper, and May The Muses Be With You.

one-shot, marathon, stuff
