so instead of working on a curatorial paper, im internetting.
today zane and i helped decorate our sister's christmas tree with her kids. its making me excited to get a tree in our house, even though this year we're going to have to have a fakie :(
i had lots of fun playing with the girls. i hope we get to babysit them soon. PRACTICE!! zane reminded me today that both of our nieces will have known me their whole lives, because i met lyric when she was only 6 months old-ish (and kalyia is currently only like 5 months old). which is just really awesome. its a great feeling to be an aunt, and that the girls will be that much closer to me because they've known me since they were little babies.
having family here is definitly making living in calgary more enjoyable for both of us. and i think now that we get to visit them so much, it makes the idea of not living here forever kind of sad.
its incredibly cold here already. its kind of crazy to think that its only the beginning of december and there is still so much of this cold weather to come. if it hits -30 im not leaving the house. today when it was only -18 i wanted to cry because my face hurt so much. i think i need to buy a ski mask or something. i dont understand how people can get used to this kind of cold. at least whenever we are back east, winter there will feel like a fucking BREEZE. its actually awesome just to think about that...
a few things i miss about halifax:
warmer temperatures (duh)
VIDEO DIFFERENCE! seriously. i knew id miss it, and i really do. there's nothing here that compares. :( i also miss the buzz cakes from italian gourmet they'd sell there.
F-R-I-E-N-D-S
hamachi house (re: good fresh fish)
friendly drivers that dont try to run you over on their way to work.
people that understand what "reducing" and "reusing" mean.

a few things i enjoy about calgary:
i love that its so cold and dry, that its either just dry snow or ice. NO SLUSH! NO WET FEET!
lovely shopping selections
the liqour store around the corner, with an impressive imported section, that sells tsing tao for like $11 a case!!
hearing any language other than english everywhere i go. it just feels nice to be in a more multicultural city.
better transit.
