I. The Books
Put the books in order from favourite to least favourite.
OotP, POA, idk HBP, COS and DH are tied I can't decide, PS (SS for Amurrikins) is last. It changes around though, really.
EDIT: Hahahahahaha I forgot about GoF! Oh well. I guess I don't like that one as much either, lol.
How many times have you read the series?
It's pretty rare for me to read a book again cover-to cover once I've read it. I tend to dive in and read from wherever I feel like. That said, I have read the first 3 a few times right through.
Favourite chapter?
I really love the scenes with Tom Riddle in HBP, and okay, they're different chapter, but they're all awesome.
What are your five favourite quotes from the books?
OotP, gargoyles outside the staff room -
'You should be in class, Sonny Jim.'
'This is urgent,' said Harry curtly.
'Ooooh, urgent is it?' said the other gargoyle in a high-pitched voice. 'Well that's put us in our place, hasn't it?'
DH - 'Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?'
DH - Harry looked at his mother.
'Stay close to me,' he said quietly.
DH - We did it, we bashed them, wee Potter’s the one, And Voldy’s gone mouldy, so now let’s have fun!
'Really gives a feeling for the scope and tragedy of the thing, doesn’t it?' said Ron.
POA - 'THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE DIED!' roared Black. 'DIED RATHER THAN BETRAY YOUR FRIENDS, AS WE WOULD HAVE DONE FOR YOU!'
Biggest surprise:
The first one that jumps to mind is fake!Moody in GOF, because I had NO IDEA that was coming.
Biggest Let-down:
How Remus/Tonks was handled, urgh. They were both two awesome characters in their own right, and I liked R/T fine before HBP came out, but then Tonks, who was previously a cool strong female character, suddenly became all mopey and sad pining over Remus and let it interfere with her whole life. And then after they got married, Remus was acting like a complete weirdo, one minute saying how much he regrets marrying Tonks, and wanting to leave her to go with Harry, and then all of a sudden he's like "WOOOO BABY! WE HAVE A BABY! OMG!!!1!!!1!1!" I mean, wtf? I think their relationship came at the expense of their characters. :(
One character you'd bring back to life:
I wish Remus was still alive. :(
Favourite Harry moment:
Honestly any time Harry's squaring up to Voldemort I think he's pretty fucking fantastic.
Favourite Ron moment:
When he destroys the Horcrux - he's so vulnerable after that, since like, his own deepest fear has been exposed.
Favourite Hermione moment:
Emotional range of a teaspoon FTW.
Favourite Ginny moment:
I liked when she wouldn't put up with Harry emo shit in OotP when everyone else was walking on eggshells around him.
Favourite Neville moment:
Either in DH when he stands up to Voldemort, or in OOTP when the Trio see him at St Mungo's.
Favourite Luna moment:
Her commentary of the Quidditch match sounds like it would've been awesome to hear, hehehehe. =D
Favourite Snape moment:
When Dumbles asks Snape to kill him, and Snape goes "Would you like a moment to compose an epitaph?" XDDD
Favourite Dumbledore moment:
Just the random shit he says, you know? "I do love knitting patterns." "Though if I were a Death Eater I would have been sure to research my own jam preferences before impersonating myself." Telling Aunt Petunia that her Rhododendrons were coming along nicely, etc. =D He cracks me up.
Favourite Voldemort moment:
All the Tom Riddle bits, seriously.
Favourite Sirius moment:
"THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE DIED! DIED RATHER THAN BETRAY YOUR FRIENDS, AS WE WOULD HAVE DONE FOR YOU!"
Favourite Weasley family moment:
I don't know...one that comes to mind is one Christmas at Hogwarts when Fred & George force into his jumper, and his arms are pinned to his sides. =D The image of it makes me laugh. =D
Favourite Draco moment:
When he can't kill Dumbledore.
Moment that will always make you cry:
I actually very rarely cry while reading, but I did get teary in the Forest Scene with the Resurrection Stone, and when Dobby died. Which was unexpected - I don't even LIKE Dobby!
II. The Films
Put the films in order from favourite to least favourite:
idk...I like them all for completely different reasons. I can't really decide.
Actor most like the book character:
I think McGonagall and Lockhart are very close indeed, in terms of what they look like, and how the characters are written.
Actor least like the book character:
I'm trying to judge this by how they act, rather than what they look like solely. I'm not a huge fan of Michael Gambon's portrayal of Dumbledore, I don't think he came across as omniscient enough, so that now Harry's realising that Dumbledore doesn't know everything, it's not much of a shock because it's been clear from the start. And of course, the "HARRY DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THAT GOBLET?!" incident.
I also feel Sirius isn't immature or rash enough (well he probably is in POA, but not in OotP); he's too suitable a father figure. Though I can see why they'd change that and it doesn't bother me in the movies because I just think of them as a separate thing. But yeah, in the book, Sirius can be an immature whiny bitch. But you know I love him anyway. :D
Favourite film set:
I love the Great Hall, Diagon Alley and the Quidditch Pitch.
Three Favourite lines from films:
I love the bit in POA where the Twins are giving Harry the Marauder's Map and they keep finishing each other's sentences. I can't be bothered typing it, but you all know what I mean.
All the parseltongue from CoS - I've memorised it, lol.
POA, in the Shrieking Shack -
Remus: Severus, don't be a fool...
Sirius: He can't help it. It's habit by now.
Remus: Sirius, be quiet!
Sirius: Be quiet yourself, Remus!
Snape: Listen to you two, quarrelling like an old married couple.
Sirius: Why don't you run along and play with your chemistry set?
XDDDDDD
Favourite film scene:
I really like the whole Graveyard bit in GOF, but especially how when Harry brings Cedric's body back, everyone in the crowd is cheering because the don't realise at first. I thought that was brilliant, really.
Favourite scene in the films not included in the books:
I think the scene with Remus and Harry in the bridge in POA. MOAR REMUS is always good news. :D
Scene you were most disappointed didn't make it into the film:
The full version of Snape's Worst Memory is the first thing that comes to mind. Also I'd have liked to see the Quidditch World Cup match, but I understand why that was cut, it doesn't further the story a lot.
III. The Universe
Five Favourite Characters:
Remus Lupin, Harry Potter, Sirius Black, Tom Riddle
Three Least Favourite Characters:
Hagrid, Filch, the Dursleys. I mean that not only are they unlikeable (imo) but they aren't very interesting to read about. Because you know, I hate Umbridge, but at least she's interesting to read about - It's much worse to think a character boring than to think they're unpleasant.
Favourite member of the Trio:
Harry
Three Favourite magical creatures:
Thestrals, Lethifolds, Hippogryffs.
Favourite family:
Weasleys I guess, though I like the Blacks and the Potters.
Favourite villain:
Tom Riddle
Favourite Death Eater:
Snape or Fenrir Greyback. I like Draco, too.
Favourite non-Hogwarts magical building:
The Ministry of Magic sounds like it'd be way interesting explore.
Favourite Diagon Alley location:
Florean Fortescue's Ice cream parlour, hehe. All the ice creams there sound so awesome!
Three Favourite Spells:
Expecto Patronum, Sectumsempra, Colloportus (I like the way the word sounds)
Three Favourite Potions:
Veritaserum, Felix Felicis, Amortentia
Favourite Unforgivable Curse:
Crucio. I have more of a reaction to that one - Imperius got bandied around a lot, even by the Trio, Avada Kedavra is terrible, but seems an okay way to die, really, it's quick. Crucio is more interesting, firstly because of the genuine wish to cause pain, and also just the general visual of it, what people would look like under the curse.
Favourite Department of Mysteries Room:
The one with the planets in, I think.
Favourite kind of transportation:
Apparition or broomsticks.
Favourite Weasley:
Fred & George (shhh they're totally one person)
Favourite Order member:
Remus :D
Favourite pet:
Hedwig was pretty awesome, really.
Favourite Hogwarts room:
Room of Requirement, Ravenclaw Common Room, Gryffindor Common Room
Favourite class:
DADA, Transfiguration, Charms, Flying lessons
Favourite teacher:
Remus :D McGonagall is also pretty awesome.
Favourite DADA teacher:
Remus :D
Least favourite teacher:
Quirrell.
Favourite non-human Hogwarts resident:
Fawkes, though Firenze is pretty cool too =D
Favourite Hogsmeade location:
Honeydukes & The Three Broomsticks
Favourite Triwizard Champion:
Harry, but I like Cedric too.
Favourite Triwizard Task:
The Maze. That fog that turned everything upside down was trippy.
If you had to resort the trio, so one had to go to each different House and none could remain in Gryffindor, who would go where and why?
I think Ron would go to Hufflepuff, because he's very loyal. He COULD be in Ravenclaw I guess, he's got a strategic mind, but he eally doesn't 'love learning', so probably not. I think Ron would never let the Hat put him in Slytherin, either.
Hermione in Ravenclaw obviously, she even says the Hat seriously considered putting her there. I think she'd find it difficult to deal with Slytherin, what with how uptight she was about rules initially, plus her being muggleborn.
Harry in Slytherin, for reasons already outlined in the books. His prejudice against Slytherin at the start of the books was not as deeply ingrained as Ron's would've been, so I think he'd go to Slytherin sooner than Ron would.
Which qualities do you see in Harry that are distinctly not Gryffindor ones?
Ruthlessness, Resourcefulness, Loyalty
Severus Snape - Innately good or innately evil? Self motivated or really Dumbledore's man?
You know, even after reading DH I'm not sure, lol. I want to say Self-motivated AND Dumbledore's Man, heheh I'm not sure if they contradict each other too much. =D
How do you feel about James Potter and the Marauders?
VERY GOOD INDEED. Srsly though, I love them. I read more fic involving Remus, Sirius and James than most other characters.
IV. The Fandom
How long have you been a HP fan?
Since I was 8, and I'm 18 now!
Favourite wizard rock band:
I don't listen to a lot, but I like Sirius Black by Tony Goldmark, and Harry Potter In The Hood by O Movies
on Youtube .
Number of midnight releases have you attended:
They don't release at midnight here, but I've been there lining up for the book from the 4th one onwards.
Favourite HP website:
Mugglenet & The HP Lexicon
Favourite podcast:
MuggleCast
Favourite fanartist:
I like
buttfacemakani,
linnpuzzle seviet Most ridiculous Potter theory you've heard:
Something about Dumbledore being an Animagus and that Hedwig is actually his animal form.
Favourite LJ HP community:
I don't know, I'm not really active in HP fandom anymore.
Which would you rather see - a sequel or a prequel?
Can't we have both? I'd choose a prequel though.
Which stereotypes do you associate with each house?
Gryffindor: Bold rash, recklass, hot-headed, they wear their hearts on their sleeves
Ravenclaw: Nerdy, Bookish, reserved, strategists
Hufflepuff: Slightly ditzy, cooperative, methodical, plain, boring
Slytherin: Snobbish, elitist, mean, unwelcoming
V. Either/Or
Floo powder or broom: Broom
Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans or Chocolate Frogs: Chocolate Frogs
Death Eaters or Dumbledore's Army: DA! DA! DA!
Fred or George: il Est impossible
CAPSLOCK HARRY or Emo!Harry: They both bring the lulz.
The Ministry of Magic or Gringotts: Ministry
Sirius or Lupin: Can't I have both? At once? Naked? *makes puppy-dog eyes*
Occlumency or Legilimency: Well, I'm iffy on the ethics of Legilimency, but Occlumency isn't much use to me, so I'd choose Legilimency.
Animagus or Metamorphmagus: Animagus. It provides more information on who you are as a person, whereas being a metamorphmagus (while awesome) would just provide more confusion, I would think. I mean, if you could look like anyone at all, what would you look like? Would you make yourself really good-looking? Taller? And then does that mean you believe yourself not good-looking enough? Too many issues, man.
Mermish or Parselmouth: PARSELMOUTH. Though this comparison reads weirdly, Mermish is a language but a parselmouth is a person who speaks Parseltongue, so I think it ought to say parseltongue, really.
Draco or Lucius: Draco
Peter Pettigrew or Mundungus Fletcher: Urgh, neither, thanks.
Whomping Willow or Flying Ford Anglia: Whomping Willow is HARDXCORE
Invisibility cloak or Pensieve: AHHH this is a tough choice. Invisibility, I guess. idk where I would keep a Pensieve, and I wouldn't want just anyone getting into it.
Grimmauld Place or The Burrow: The Burrow seem a lot better to live in, but I'd love to be in Grimmauld Place for the Order comings and goings, and also to look around Sirius' and Regulus' rooms.
Werewolf or Inferi: Werewolf ;)
Herbology or Care of Magical Creatures: Care of Magical Creatures as taught by Professor Grubbly-Plank.
Professor Binns or Professor Umbridge: I suppose I'd rather have Binns, at least you could just do whatever you wanted in his lessons.
Yule Ball or Quidditch Championship: QUIDDITCH!!!
Peeves or Nearly Headless Nick: Sir Nicholas De Mimsy-Porpington. Porpington - what a brilliant-sounding name. :D
Hippogryff or Thestrals: Thestrals, I'd be able to see them.
Durmstrang or Beaubaxtons: Beaubaxtons
S.P.E.W or the Inquisitorial Squad: Neither, lol. I agree with th ideas of SPEW, but I'm not prepared to be vocal about it, I don't care that much. Inquisitorial Squad is full of wankers.
Three Broomsticks or The Leaky Cauldron: Three Broomsticks
Portkey or Apparation: Apparition
Butterbeer or pumpkin juice: BUTTERBEER SOUNDS IMPOSSIBLY DELICIOUS.
VI. You at Hogwarts
List the Hogwarts Houses in order of which House you'd most likely be Sorted into (1 being most likely):
1 - Gryffindor (I can be impulsive and daring, like when I bungee jumped, or sung in front of 3 year levels at school assembly)
2 - Ravenclaw (I'm smart, but I'm not studious, lol)
3 - Slytherin (I sometimes wonder about my morals...there are some things that people think are morally wrong that I don't mind. Well. I think they're wrong, in that they shouldn't be done, but it doesn't actually offend MY morals, because I don't care. idk how to explain. Ask further questions if you wish.)
4 - Hufflepuff (I am SO NOT hardworking, but I can be very loyal to certain people)
What's in your wand?
Phoenix feather
What character do you empathize with, or resemble most?
idk if i'd say that about any of them, really. Bits and pieces from different characters. Harry's desire to know about his parents & know how much he's like them (or not). Tonks' fixation on Remus for a long time (though not her moping around). Hermione's crush on Lockhart (lol not so much LOCKHART as just hot teachers in general).
Which character would you ask to the Yule Ball?
lol weird - Blaise Zabini was the first one to pop into my head.
Which character would you like to use a love potion on?
I wouldn't, that would defeat the purpose.
Which character would you like to use Veritaserum on?
Dumbledore, I guess. idk. My thought is that maybe it should be someone I don't like, because using Veritaserum on someone is a huge betrayal of trust. So actually I'd probably rather use it on Tom Riddle, when he was younger. I don't know.
What would you use Felix Felicis to do?
lol exams, but I don't think that's allowed. Probably to ask someone out then, lol.
What job would you most like to try?
Are there Wizarding Psychologists? I'd like a summer job at Florean Fortescue's actually. Idk about a full-time career path.
If you were an animagus, what animal would you turn into?
Stuffed if I know, that would be the best thing about being able to do it - find out what animal best represents you. I think I might like to be a horse, though a cat would fit in better, would let me go around unnoticed.
What animal would your patronus be?
I hope it would be a Polar Bear or Hedgehog (for the lulz, imagine a hedgehog chasing Dementors) but actually I think it would probably be a Lion.
What three things would your amortentia potion smell like?
Hah, no idea. I'm having some trouble trying to figure out WHO it should evoke, let alone what it would then smell like.
What position do you play at Quidditch?
Seeker or Keeper, probably.
Who would your best friend be were you sorted in each house and why?
Slytherin - Blaise? idk, he doesn't seem like as much of a Try-hard as Draco is.
Hufflepuff - Cedric? maybe Justin.
Ravenclaw - Luna's pretty cool. :D
Gryffindor - I think I'd get along with Harry, Ron and Ginny straightaway, and warm up to Hermione. The Twins are probably a little bit too 'out there' for me to hang with them all the time. That would probably be pretty intense.
What three characters do you think you'd get into catfights with?
Lavender Brown, Romilda Vane, Pansy Parkinson
List 3 characters you think you'd ask on a date:
(assuming they were single and alive) Harry, Remus, Sirius. Actually idk if I would have the balls to ask Sirius, I take that back.
Would you have joined Dumbledore's army or gone to the meeting if Hermione had asked you? Why or why not?
Yes, I have no issue with flouting authority if I think the authority's full of shit. Plus I think I'd really enjoy the teamworkiness of the whole thing.
Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse and, if so, which one/s and why?
I hope not. Imperio I guess, if I had to, cos it seems to do the least about of harm, depending on what you make them do. I think if I cast Imperio on someone to make them prepare some pancakes for me, they would be okay at the end of it. There'd be the awful experience of losing control though, and I know I'd hate that - I know I don't drink much because I don't feel like I make good decisions when I do.
You just got a Howler. Who's it from, and what'd you do? Was it a mistake?
Probably from my brother, saying "HEY KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEM!" I didn't do anything, lol, he's just a dork.
What type of pet do you choose as your companion at Hogwarts?
Owl, duh. I fail to see the benefit of any of the other options. A cat would be okay I guess, but come on. Owls carry your POST.
While shopping in Hogsmeade you stop by Honeydukes for some sweets. What treats do you purchase for yourself?
Chocolate of all kinds, OMG. Also, probably some liquorice. But OH GOD, Chocolate with DELICIOUS FILLINGS.
What is your favourite subject to study at Hogwarts and why?
Probably DADA because it's all about kickin' ass and takin' names, and I think dueling would be exhilarating.
Likewise, what subject is your least favourite and why?
Arithmancy - maths is not my strong suit, nor am I remotely interested in it.
