Actual sketches!
I had a meeting about Dan's work situation (I now know everything about SSI benefits and details thereof thanks very much) and despite this actually got the comic pages done! Then decided I hated them and so even though i have them they're not ready to be posted because I drew then when I was half awake (or half asleep). But, there are sketches!
First, a little sheet for Foxy, whom I love, but who needs to work on her shading! Ouch, yes thats harsh but to take the bite out I did the sheet with her characters. And, for the record I think her inking is fucking awesome and I wish I could get those kinds pen textures in my own work. Thats Imbri and Nelly getting light from four directions, and Reian getting side and backlit.
You just gotta pick a light source and go with it! The hard part is knowing what objects cast what shadows, but it gets intuitive after a while... not to say I'm great at it but I think I've got the basics. And its good for creating moods if you're into that sort of coloring!
Yesterday I fooled around with the tablet a lot. My first successful tablet sketch:
I painted over it and put the result in scraps, the sketch face is a little longer than its supposed to be since I didn't use construction lines.
Then I played with the brushes a little, not noticeable to you probably but I could feel it... I had no idea that the brushes had any use for all this time! So dumb D:
Thats Zhao spewing out fruit a la a certain shark, and Zhao being in that stupid A&F ad that I hate like no other except he is better looking.
So! To recap, I totally didn't slack on the comic, and I promise the corrected pages will be posted tomorrow!
