Kenya was amazing! If you can think of an animal that lives in Africa I probably saw it (even down to the bushbabies and dung beetles!), I got to take some riding lessons, and learn how polo is played. This is all thanks to my cousin Rowena who is living a life that seems to come out of the 19th century! Her house is on a 20 acre plot and she has 12 horses, a pony, 2 goats, 11 chickens and two donkeys - not to mention her rabbits and dogs! She plays polo every weekend and used to be a safari guide, riding with elephants and stuff (crazy, right?). Anyway we had the experience of a lifetime, and I had a pretty awesome bday- we went on a boat ride and then did an on-foot safari where we saw a day-old giraffe!!! Also, I somehow ended up with 5 bday cakes that day lol (ate some for breakfast (made by the staff), ate 2 for lunch (one from the buffet, one sprung on me for surprise by Rowena), ate one for tea (made by kids - she has three aged 2, 4, and 5) and then had another one for dinner (surprise from my dad)!!!! Even thinking about cake makes me feel sick now! (blah) It was pretty darned cool overall, but I am kinda glad to get back out of the mud and smelly stables etc. (it's IMPOSSIBLE to keep anything clean there, and the type of stains you get are really really noticable too cuz of the really red colour of the earth there, so by the end of the first week I looked like astreet urchin all the time lol).
So that's Kenya in a nutshell - it was awesome!
I've been eating waaaay too much dim sum today - so sorry for the char siu bao induced craziness 0_o
PS if this looks familiar to you david, it's because I copied and pasted the email I wrote to you - I'm FAR too lazy to rewrite my summer escapades twice lol
