then may the gods help me today.
It just happens from time to time. As I lay down to sleep, I realized that my plantar fasciae on the right side was overtight. It was sore enough that I could tell that rubbing it out wouldn't work, and He of the Profoundly Strong Thumbs was snoring, anyway. There was, however, a straightforward remedy for this. Get out of bed, find a clean sock, put the day brace back on that side, and put the big night brace on that holds my foot flat and does not let my toes point.( A couple days of staying off it and making sure I keep my foot flexed will clear this back up again. It's old hat now.)
I reach for my glasses...and knock them from their perch to send them clattering down into the bed frame.
Fuck. (This is another reason I want TWO pairs of glasses, damn it. How do you find your glasses when you can't see them?)
So turned on the light and groped around and found my glasses. Found the brace first, and set it up on my pillow so I could put it on when I got back in bed. (It's a non-walking brace.) Went out in the dining room, where the unmatched socks live in a basket, and got a sock, got my day braces out of the office, and put it on. It almost seemed sufficient in and of itself, but I know better. Off to bed with me. I've put the large night brace on so many times I can do it by touch now.
And....I can't find the middle strap. It is clearly not there.
It there isn't a strap across the ankle, my toe will point in the brace and I might as well not bother. Out of bed again. Turn on the light. Realize that the one strap, attached by velcro to the brace, has caught in the dirty clothes on the floor and pulled itself off the brace. A search of the floor promptly turned up the strap. Replace strap. Turn off light. Get back in bed. Put on brace.
Discover that my blankets are wonky and that will just not do.
Sit up, put everything mostly straght, try to lie down and get comfortable again.
Discover that both hips and the sacrum are alive with sore points, which are only evident when I lay on them. .
Discover that Bear, as is his wont when thoroughly asleep alone, is taking his half out of the middle.
I slept, but I woke frequently with pain, and got back up just now. I can feel massive flare setting up in my trapezius and levator scapulae, and my sacrum is still sadistically evil.
I am, however, determined to have a good day in spite of it all. Let's see how this goes.....
