Midas writing and pictures of No Min Woo

Mar 25, 2011 13:12

I am so obsessed with "Midas" that I have been doing nothing this morning but intensely researching the drama's cast and creators. It appears that the writer, Choi Wan Kui, is the guy that wrote scripts for many good dramas: "IRIS", "The Kingdom of the Wind", "Lobbyist", "Jumong" ,"All in", etc. etc. I think I know now why the drama appealed to me ( Read more... )

LDJALSKDJLASKDHASD NO MIN WOO IS AWESOME IN RRR, OMG! GO WATCH IT RIGHT AWAY! Am-addiction has it (it's hidden in one of the drama special threads. I'll PM the link as soon as I find it) and WITHS2 released the subs. \o/

Ooooh and piccies, yay! *stares*

Re: Swallow the sun is on my to-watch list. ^^ Maybe we could watch it together someday? Btw, I've read mixed reviews about it.

You're welcome! Just spreading the NMW love. I honestly didn't think he had THAT in him. I mean, in Pasta and MGIAG was wooden at best though if you squinted you could see his potential, but in RRR? alsdkjsjlkdhfdlkfghdl alkdhalsdhsld!

Wow, that soon? I'll see what I can do.

I like him in Midas, but he was very aloof in pasta (which was his role, I suppose). I think he is getting more popular with Midas (I have seen some Korean-only pages just about his character), so hopefully he'll get more leading roles.

And I would have thought the same if I hadn't seen him in MGIAG. I mean, I loved MGIAG (it's one of my favorite romcom of 2010, imho), but his performance was...idek how to describe it. Sometimes his acting was over the top, some other times it looked like he didn't grasp what his character was about? IDK, it wasn't awful (I've seen MUCH worse from other actors), but it wasn't memorable either, you know what I mean?

Ah, okay, let's see if I can do it. Do you plan on marathoning the thing? Because I'm waiting for 49 days subs (can't wait, can't wait, OMG CAN'T WAIT!) and as soon as those come out, imma be busy with it.

Hopefully he'll be on the right track after Midas.

I 'd like to marathon "Swallow..". But we can have a break when subs for 49 come out. is it any good? Royal family is definitely not my thing, the lead lady is not my thing at all.

After watching RRR, I really hoped so. Hopefully he'll get meatier roles soon. I would love to see him in a comedy, see if he can do that, too. I mean, I've seen him in a dramatic role and it looks like his character is going to go through a LOT in Midas and it wouldn't hurt if his next project was something...fluffier. I know that's not exactly your thing, but...I really, really want to see if he can stretch his acting that much. *crosses fingers*

Well, if you marathon 10 eps in one day, I'm not sure I can keep up with you ;)

As for 49 days, I only read good reviews about it. *tries to contain her enthusiasm and hopes DOWN*

I think there is a good chance for him to get "meetier" roles somewhere soon: he is the right age, did well at acting, etc.

We can do one episode a day? ** puppy eyes **

I am waiting for 49 days for finish, it seems like a drama that can go either way. the worrying thing is that dramabeans is all over it, and I never seem to agree with her (his? it?) likes and dislikes, just different tastes.

Hopes so. *crosses fingers*

My record is 6 eps in one day, but it was a one time thing. I have done 4-5 eps marathons at weekends (mind you, occasionally, and if I was sick or something), but iirc you managed to beat me. Then again, there was some fast-forwarding which I rarely do unless the drama is so awful I want to claw my eyes out. LOL

That, I can do. *nods*

I used to agree with dramabeans a lot in the past. Lately? Not so much. I think our opinions started to diverge right about the time Take care of agasshi was filming. It's like we squee about one project and for the next 4-5 dramas we completely disagree on pretty much everything (the last thing we agreed on was MGIAG and that was girlfriday's opinion, not Sarah's). These days I tend to share the same opinion of Ockoala's blog, but then again Koala's an actual friend and Dramabeans' Sarah and girlfriday are just Net acquaintances and maybe that's why my viewing pleasures are more in line with Koala's? IDK.

I can marathon in long strecthes, and ff a bit quite often. :D

I never agreed with dramabeans, I but I have a good feel it might be the age difference. The reviewers there are always raving about "youthful" dramas. The latest good example is Dream High which seems to be some kind of "greatest, most well-written drama of all times" according to this blog. Age differences, methinks. :D

Heh. If I could ff a lot, I'd be like you. ;)

You think so? Age difference? Hmmm. I don't know. I think I'm in the same age-range of DB's bloggers (not the commenters, mind you) and, well, I blame different tastes rather than age. What I do like about Ockoala's blog is that she's all, "Look, I know this drama may not be good, that the story is all over the place, but I like it, I feel a connection with the characters etc". What I mean is, I like reading her reviews more lately cos she tries to be objective even when she squees? IDK is that makes sense

That is true what you say. This is bit of thinking on dramabeans and ockoala's blogs:

1. dramabeans: tends to have subjective likes and dislikes but hides them under pseudo-objective measuring. The likes/dislikes go first, the pseudo-objective measuring follows. This is why I think she/he/it much younger than I am : I observe younger people to do this quite often (and without particular intent on their part)

2. ockoala: has objective views /measuring , with subjective likes and dislikes. This is approach that I prefer.

BTW, dramabeans has two bloggers, Sarah, the owner of the site, and girlfriday and they're both girls. ^^ You can listen to their podcasts, if you should feel so inclined.

Ockoala runs her website by herself though she often guest-blogs at Thundie's blog where lots of other bloggers post (though I usually avoid Michael's reviews cos he rubs me in the wrong way. BIG TIME.)

Thank you for the info!

I am off to find Michael's reviews: I am intrigued.

How do you know who is who there?

Er, okay.

There are archives for each of the bloggers. Just click on the name you want on the right sidebar. Michael's > http://thundie.wordpress.com/author/lanier4john/

Thank you!!! Yes, I can see why you can find his reviews not suiting you, he is all "all you need is love" and he LOVES secret Garden, which is the best written-drama ever (comas, bodyswaps and all!)
