Midas: the hottest non-canon OTP I have even seen in my life

Mar 24, 2011 20:30

Usually, I am a canon OTP kind of girl. I don't know why but normally I choose the canon OTP in any show or any book instinctively, without meaning to do so. There have been few exceptions, as with any rule, but usually these exceptions are in two categories: a) the writer of the story have changed their mind half-way . Little Women is My most ( Read more... )

midas, doramas, kdrama

So...Midas is actually pretty good then? Or is it just the uncanon ship?
And she's gonna go back to Do Hyun? I don't even watch this and I already hate that idea!!

It is actually pretty good. .It is hard to tell with 100% accuracy, but so far it is reminding me of "Slingshot" and this is always a good thing.

And she's gonna go back to Do Hyun? I don't even watch this and I already hate that idea!!

I don't think so. Again, it is hard to say where it all is going. Both she and Do Hyun are still hung up on each other. but the way he is now - there is no way she is returning back to him. He just ordered some gangsters to beat up her father (who was among the protesters)! And this man was like a father to him!!

The bad things are:

Lee Jung Yeon is a SECONDARY girl and never trust a Kdrama with secondary girls. but we will see. The rules are there to be broken!

I ship a non-canon ship! This never going to end well too.

I LOVED Slingshot! How do you find them simmilar though?

What an ass.

Secondary girls have been getting better lately so maybe she'll be okay. I just hope that Myung Joon survives through the show.

In a way that it is about stock manipulations, but (so far) in an undertsndable, interesting and not-overbearing way. Like in Slingshot, the main focus is human relationships within a business family (ann ugly truth of it), not the actual "mergers and acquisitions". It is like "Baker King" is not really about BAKING and Pasta is not really about cooking.

** finger crossed **

I was interested in this because I adore Lee Min-Jung after Smile, You, but the whole acquisitions and mergers thing sounded like it might put me to sleep.

There is not as much of it as the usual blurbs seem to imply. It is definitely worthy to try , unless your tolerance to anything of the following kind is zero: the business lady (female lead) stages a "coop" against her older brother using some elaborate stock manipulations.

PS: I think I want to watch Smile, you. Is that any good?

I liked it. I ADORED the main couple, and even the secondary couple was pretty sweet. But the main OTP was just fantastic. It's difficult for me to rec it though, because it is so freaking long and everything to do with the parents is unbelievably obnoxious. But having 45 episodes to build the main OTP's relationship was kind of a beautiful thing to watch.

I un-canon-ship a few times, too. It's sometimes no fun. :)

I'm not likely to check out "Midas" since I just don't have a feel for the premise. But I'm just wondering since you say it's un-canon, are you saying that they're really not likely to end up together?

I think he is going to die (from cancer :D). Will they or will they not be together before that? My bet is they will in some way, but it will a "tortured" kind of a relationship. She is hung up on another guy , she wants to take revenge on this other guy (he hired thugs to beat her father) and probably she will hook up with the "playboy" for the purposes of revenge. I am goin to love it and eat it with a spoon, but it all going to end in tears. :D

I've seen so many different thoughts about Midas that it's a bit hard to make head or tails if it's good or not. Some love it, others think it's mildly interesting, some think it's boring and yet others think it's not worth writing home about....

I wasn't initially interested at all, even with that cast but I might now give it a try. At some point when I'm finally done with couple of other dramas I'm trying to finish. :)

I LOVED Slingshot (which also had uncannon pairings, sort of) so if Midas is anywhere near it in 'temperament' I may actually like it.

I think Midas is objectively a well-written drama so far, but you never know with these things, in fact it is so well written that I am slightly afraid if it can keep up like this. but someone whose preferences are Romantic Comedies (for example), or teen shows are not likely to like this IMHO. It is complex, it is dark (but subtly so, not in-your-face), it is not centred around boy-meets-girl scenario.

I would say it has a good chance to appeal to you, though - the elements you like are all there, but it is hard to judge if it will be love or like for you

It reminds me of Slingshot in a big way, but it is not 100% like it as well. Midas is in a class of it's own. :D

Just checked- the writer for this is the same guy who did scripts for several good things : "IRIS", "The Kingdom of The Winds", "Lobbyist", "All in" and " The Book of Three Han".
