Before I get to the point, Rosa Parks reminds me of
this time when I lived in El Salvador. Me and two friends of
mine, Chris (a fun loving Canadian) and Gabe (a lanky Jewish stoner
from New York) used to go to a shady bar on the top floor of this
building in the Zona Rosa (red light district, I guess). It was
called Tragos; sips. Anyways, we'd go there and act like a bunch
of idiots and consume massive quantities of tequila. Then we'd
dance around the dirty little table to whatever songs we could piece
together through the murk. One of them was Fly Away by Limp
Bizkit (and at the critical part we'd all make a little bird with our
hands and flap it away, as if in some wacky universe that was
considered
cool ... somehow.) and the other was Rosa Parks by Outkast,
one of the few hiphop songs at the time that I'd admit to knowing the
words to.
Class, that was an example of a
tangent.
But where I was going with this is that Rosa Parks
was famous for boycotting the bus system. And where I'm going
with this is that I'm going to boycott TV for a week.
THE PLAN!
He're comes the plan,
ready? I'm going to not watch TV for a week, then after that if I
really really can't live without it, I guess I'm doomed to be a
unindependant zombie. Instead I'll try to listen to music, read,
listen to radio and such. Why am I going to do this, you ask?
THE REASON!
Well
I'll tell you. I kinda want to see if I can do it, I'd be rather
disappointed with myself if I find I can't. Also I was
listening to this
Timothy Leary
thing and it made me curious. I mean I always hear that TV is all
this bullshit and it's just sponsors making you buy things, and its
mostly useless and dangerous. And I belive that, but never to the
extreme of not watching TV. Plus I watch TV just too much.
THE OTHER STUFF!
Thats
pretty much it, but I rembered that when you do outlines and shit
you're supposed to have 3 of everything. Or something. I
was never good at those. Rough drafts, outlines, jabbahammas,
shamashamas, pre-writes or brainstorms. I'm listening to 30
Seconds To Mars - Mission now, but the little music box ... she can't
fit anymore.
