The word uninspired ... is kinda arrogant. I mean, instead of
saying, my song/dance/painting/drawing was unoriginal ... you say it
was uninspired.
It's not your fault that the thing sucked ass, it was the lack of
inspiration thats to blame. Your muse should be held responsible
and burned at the stake.
Another thing ... 'No Offense' ... I don't think this phrase should
exist. It works backwards. If you didn't want to offend the
person, you wouldn't say no offense. I can scarcely remember an
instance when upon being presented with this phrase I wasn't
offended. If the situation was one where you wouldn't take
offence when being told not to be offended, it would be a situation
where you weren't going to take offense anyways. And the only
time when you wouldn't take offense is when you know you have no reason
to, because you're not to blame. For example, if I worked with a
fashion magazine, and someone came up to me and said... "No offense,
but this magazine is complete shit." I'd say, "Oh, none taken, I
just do the layout for the website. So its not my fault."
If the person had said "Hey, this magazine is complete shit." I'd
say, "Oh, yeah I know." Then think to myself I just do the layout for the webstite, so it's not my fault.
However, if i were to blame, it might go something like this: "No
offense, but whoever took the photo for the cover of this magazine is
blind!" Then I'd say, "Oh, I'm responsible for shooting all the
covers. I've devoted my entire life to becoming a fashion
photographer. On my father's death-bed he told me to take over
the family carpentry business, but I knew it wasn't in my heart.
I sold the company and was disowned by my family, but 25 years later,
I've put all that behind me. My agent assured me that that cover
shot was the best I've ever taken. Please excuse me for a second
while I find a length of rope and a room with sturdy fan and a high
ceiling."
It's like 'no pun intended' all over again. BUT MALICIOUS.
