Hello, friends list.
I want to talk to you about something really fucking important for a few minutes. Proposition 8. I don't think many of you live in California, so you might not have heard much about it, and I totally failed as a homo by not talking about it more pre-election. Nevertheless, it was a measure that negated the law they put into place earlier in the year in California allowing gay marriage.
If you would like to read more,
have wikipedia. You also might want to check out
Protect Marriage, the ironically named pro-8 website and
No On Prop 8, the oppositional campaign website.
There have been several protests in the San Francisco and LA areas since Tuesday. Today was some of the worst.
This is an article about today's protest. This is one of the protesters being arrested after being slammed up against that wall by the police.

This is a video of the arrest, please watch at 2:40, where you can see him being slammed against the wall and another protester being literally beat down to the ground before being cuffed and taken away.
Please, I beg of all of you, show these articles and videos to your friends, inform them of the issues and keep talking about this! The more voices speaking, the more that can be heard. Whether you're gay, straight, something in between, or none of the above, it doesn't matter. No one has the right to tell anyone who they can or can't love.
Edit:
Here's a much better recap of everything that went down. Check it out, guys.
