Writing this while listening to Coldplay's brand new Viva La Vida...
Life In Technicolor: I love it. Sounds like it's a great intro to something else and you keep waiting for the lyrics, but I like it. You know they'll never play it live.
Cemeteries Of London: It'll grow on me. I like it. Wait, no, it's already growing on me. Rhythm is really cool.
Lost: Don't hate it, but eh. I don't know yet. This album is certainly different.
42: ...uh. Chris, this is creepy. Like...really. "Those who are dead are not dead they're just living in my head" ... and then it picks up and it happy and I thought the other song had started. Eh. What?
Lovers In Japan: Happier than "42" easily. I think this could be awesome live. I like Coldplay recorded, but I swear, they are so much better live. I can really see this one coming out fantastic live. This sounds like a Coldplay song. XD finally... the piano right there, oh, this is definitely a song to play live.
Reign of Love: Little song of few words. They'll play it acoustically, watch :P I bet people will love this song and I'm the one who's like "It's okay. It's good, but it's not Viva La Vida!" Little happy song.
Yes: Huh. Weird. This is depressing. Too...too...something. Ugh. Might grow on me like a lot of A Rush Of Blood To The Head did, but ehhhh. Wait on that verdict.
...is this Chinese Sleep Chant? I got so confused. It's not labeled. Cool though. It is. I just looked up lyrics.
Viva La Vida: I LOVE this song. It's the one on the iTunes ad which is the most beautiful thing on TV. I make everyone shut up whenever it's on. THIS is a Coldplay song like "Talk," like "White Shadows," like "Clocks." Guuuuuuuuuuuh. This will be so good live. This song makes me wish I got to see them this tour.
Violet Hill: The other masterpiece of this album. Jonny. Guitar. Magic. This song is harsh, but in a way that works for them, not like uh..."42" up there. Video for this is amazing too. Guys, I love you. This song is perfect. JONNY! omgomgomgomg
Strawberry Swing: Happy. I imagine people are going to like this one a lot. The the lyric "it's such a perfect day" is in it reminds me of their cover of "Perfect Day" from...I think the Isle of Wight Festival in summer 2006. ("He didn't fuckin' play it, so we had to!") Very different song though XD Happy song, I like it. I bet they could do this acoustic too.
Death And All His Friends: Oh, people are gonna like this. Starts kinda..."sweet" and picks up a bit...OR A LOT. Hey, now I like this :) Yes, go team! This is going to be great live too! Weird gap at the end and then it goes back into a "Life In Techincolor"-esque thing. Nice making the album come full circle kind of thing I guess.
Sooooo. The End. I'm not trying to be all srs Coldplay expert or anything, I just did this for fun. I'd really love to see how this all translates on tour and it'll be interesting to see what other fans think. I definitely liked it. I don't think it was better than X&Y, though I remember how much I skipped over everything on that album that wasn't "Talk" when I first got it. I really wasn't huge into Coldplay until after I saw them live. Viva La Vida can be my background music for a while and we'll see how it goes. Album art was cool, but I always hate not having the plastic hard case and I wanted lyrics printed. Oh well.
(P.S. Chris, Jonny, Will & Guy: You still "rule the world" as far I'm concerned. :) )
