They tried four different bars that Elliot knew Olivia liked to go to. She wasn’t at any of them. With every fruitless attempt Alex felt herself getting a little more frantic. Elliot could see her tension mounting but he didn’t know what to do other than to try and find Olivia as fast as he could. After the fifth bar Elliot was out of ideas. "Those are all the places she likes to go, I don’t know where else she would be unless she’s just out walking around."
"The coaster." Alex stated simply as if she knew it all along. It clicked with Elliot as well.
"That’s gotta be it." he said. "You know how to get there?" he asked Alex.
"Like I was there yesterday." Alex responded. The car quickly moved towards its destination.
When Olivia walked out on Elliot in her apartment she headed toward the bar she and Alex had gone to years ago. It was a fair distance away she knew it would take her awhile but she needed to walk off some of her anxiety.
When she arrived she strolled into the bar brooding and dark. She was immediately noticed by a few of the women in the bar. She went straight to the bar and ordered a double shot of whiskey and a beer. As soon as the bartender set it down she grabbed it and downed it. She felt a satisfying burn as the smooth liquid moved down her throat into her stomach. She was already drunk before she came in so the shot only served to amplify the situation. She grabbed the beer off the bar and turned her back and elbows resting against the bar as she scanned her surroundings.
There were a lot of people in the bar. There were definitely some good looking women. She wanted a blond. She would wait until she got what she wanted. A few women gave her hopeful looks but she knew how to communicate her disinterest with only a glance. Each one looked away defeated until finally she saw what she wanted.
A tall blond with long flowing hair and a look in her eyes that told Olivia she could have anything she wanted. Olivia nodded to her and the woman moved towards her with lithe movements her whole body swaying.
When she reached the detective she paused shifting her weight to one sumptuous hip. Olivia watched every one of her movements drinking in her body and telling her alcohol soaked brain that this woman was just as good as having Alex. Her heart knew the truth but her mind was willing to indulge the lie.
She reached forward and grabbed the woman behind the waist pulling her to her and burying her nose in her neck and long hair. "What’s your name?" she growled huskily into her skin.
"Samantha." The woman responded in a breath as her head rolled back in ecstasy at the feeling of Olivia’s lips on her skin.
"I want you Samantha." Olivia spoke punctuating the statement by biting her earlobe.
"You can have me." The woman responded with the conviction of desire as she pulled at Olivia’s jacket tugging her toward the dance area. She wanted to feel this dark haired woman against her.
Olivia’s soul was split as she allowed herself to be lead. She was both drunk on desire and drowning in misery. This woman meant nothing to her except escape and a chance to pretend she was loved. She made sure she took her beer with her as she watched the blond’s ass sway in her way-too-tight dress.
"Its just up here." Alex spoke urgently leaning forward in the car as if the action would will the car and herself to get there faster.
"You want me to go in with you or wait outside?" Elliot asked.
"No, I’ll be fine. You’ve already done more than enough. You should get home to your family." Alex spoke squeezing Elliot’s wrist in appreciation.
"You’re doing the right thing Alex. You can have all kinds of regrets in life but you never regret following your heart."
"Thanks Elliot." Alex spoke her blue eyes full of emotion. There was so much swirling inside them it made Elliot feel nervous for the girl.
"Good luck." He added before she just about dove out of the car.
As you can see the story is coming to an end, but there is an epilogue.
