Turf, Chapter 3

"Hey, is Alex coming?" Elliot looked across the table at his partner as he spoke; they had decided that Chauncey's was a good place to relax for the night. He found it very amusing that the male JAG officer, Harm, had practically fallen over himself to get a seat next to Liv and that he had no idea he didn't have a shot.

Olivia gave her partner a puzzled look, he had been right beside her when she had called Alex earlier, "she has a lot of work to do on some upcoming cases and she said she'd try to make it a little later."

As Olivia gave her partner another quizzical look and turned her attention back to the conversation she was having with Munch and Harm, Mac turned her attention to Elliot, "Who's Alex?"

Elliot smiled at the woman, he might not have been separated from Kathy for very long but he could not help but appreciate the beautiful woman in front of him, "she's our ADA, a real pistol. But be warned, she's not happy about you guys on her turf."

"Well I'm pretty sure that once we catch the bastard our boss will let her help me with the prosecution."

"You're the prosecutor?"

"Well technically I prosecute or defend depending on what the Admiral tells me, but there is no way I am defending this bastard, I'll leave that to him." She nodded her head in the direction of her partner as she smiled back at the face across from her. Her eyes glanced down and caught a look at his tattoo, "you were a marine?"

"Yup, enlisted right out of high school, did my years, and got out." Mac nodded; sometimes she understood the want to quit the corps even though being a marine was everything to her.

Olivia glanced down the table at her partner and stated, "Well, it looks like they're getting along well."

Three heads turned to look at the pair as she said the words, and almost immediately whipped around the other way when, what Harm noted as, a very haggard looking blonde woman came and practically plopped down at the end of the table. Not that she seemed like the type that plopped often. As she straightened up the detectives looked at her expectantly, "Petrovsky upheld Langan's motion to dismiss on the Collins case. I still can't believe that bastard pulled that move, he knows his client is guilty as much as I do."

"You're the one that dated him, " Olivia smirked as the words came out of her mouth. She loved the reaction she got out of Alex when she brought that up.

"It was in college! Are you ever going to let me live that down?" Alex's head shot around to glare at her girlfriend and noticed the playful smirk on Olivia's face. Oh, how she hated that Liv enjoyed pushing her buttons like that.

"Great. And on that very depressing note I am going to turn in for the night, we have a fun day of catching perverts ahead of us tomorrow," Munch stated as he got up for the table. He looked over at Fin impatiently, "Well, aren't you coming?"

"You need to get your scrawny ass a car. Do you know how much gas I waste chauffeuring you around?"

Their squabbling could be heard until the door closed behind them, and just as it did, the waitress magically appeared with a long island iced tea that she placed in front of Alex. It was then that Alex seemed to finally notice the military officers. Her demeanor stiffened even more as introductions were made. Her day was not getting any better.

The group continued to chat for a little while as the alcohol worked its magic, letting them relax a little. Well, letting most of them relax. Mac of course was nursing her tonic water with a twist lime and was letting the atmosphere relax her, and Alex was not relaxing at all as she watched Cmdr. Rabb flirt with her girlfriend. It was only her want for privacy that kept her from grabbing and kissing Olivia possessively right there.

When the night was over Harm, having decided that he needed to know, put his pride aside and pulled Elliot over to ask him a question. "I was just wondering if Olivia has a boyfriend."

Elliot smiled- this was to good of an opportunity to pass up. He had decided that the Commander wasn't a half bad guy but he still couldn’t resist it, "no she doesn't and I can honestly tell you she hasn't had one in a very long time."

Mac turned to watch as Olivia and Alex took off walking down the sidewalk and could have sworn she heard the female detective say, 'come on, once we get home I'll make your day a lot better.' She just shook her head and thanked Elliot for hailing her and Harm a cab.

Once inside the taxi she turned to look at the man beside her. It was painfully obvious that he was falling for the gorgeous detective, but of course it was perfectly possible for two to play the flirting game, and Detective Stabler definitely wasn't half bad himself. Plus, if she had actually heard what she thought she had heard, this could be very fun to watch.
