Okay, so I realize that it has been quite a while since I posted last so here goes:

I now hold the rank of Ichimongi in Shinkendo and whatever the first rank is in our branch of Toyama-Ryu.

I congratulate you on your accomplishment.

However I am curious as to the level of this accomplishment.

What are the rankings in Shinkendo? Is there an equivalent to a Black Belt?

[For comparison the last martial arts school I trained in the fastest possible you could get the first degree black belt was two years]

It's the first rank. Heh.

I don't remember what the rankings are off hand. I just know might.
I think there's like seven ranks I can test for before I have the equivalent of a black belt. And that one I have to test in front of the Kaiso himself.

My senpei has been studying for four years now and he's still three or four ranks away from that rank himself. Maybe two or three. Either way, there are no colored belts, it is not a Kyu/Dan system and there are no honorary ranks. You earn all your ranks.

"Ichimongi" sounds like some fungus or something along those lines.
