Flat Earth Theory is a perfect example of "be careful what you joke about." Like literally the whole thing began as a joke, none of the original members of the Flat Earth Society actually believed that BS, and somewhere along the line some gullible idiots didn't recognize it was a joke and went "oh yeah, that makes sense." And now these troglodytes are enabling the Qanon and anti-masker and anti-vaxxer morons.
Mark my words, in several years you're going to have lots of people forget that the "birds are government drones" joke was ever a joke, they'll be taking that shit seriously and shooting at birds to prove the conspiracy, and then when they find meat and guts in the birds, they'll be like "look at this, they've used alien nanotechnology to make these drones look super realistic."
