Academic History of Alexandre Douville
My high school career began at Lord Elgin in Burlington Ontario in 2002, grade nine. I was enrolled in the International Baccalaureate programme. The I.B. programme is designed for students who are highly motivated and that have an excellent average. In grade nine my timetable was composed of; mathematics, French, English, geography, arts, history and physical education. I also took Spanish lessons at home. In grade 10, I had to move from Ontario to Laval Québec. I continued my studies in the IB programme, this time in French. My grade ten studies consisted of; Spanish, French, English, enriched mathematics, world culture, history and physical education. In grade 11 I attended St-Maxime school in Laval. During my grade 11 year I studied; astronomy, math, French, English, economics and robotics.
I am currently in my first semester of CEGEP. I am in the social sciences programme. This semester, being my first, I am taking the following classes; psychology, history, geography, English, calculus, media studies and volleyball. When I finish CEGEP, I will go on to University and obtain a doctoral degree in psychology. This semester, I am maintaining a 90% average, which in my college’s terms is very good.
The purpose of my exchange to Japan is, to learn another culture and language. The exchange would allow me to see first hand what Japanese culture is all about. Ever since I was young, Japan has been a country that captured my imagination. Its unique culture and strong values have also intrigued me. I think attending school in Japan is the best way to absorb Japanese culture because it allows me to be in contact with many different people. What I hope to gain from this experience is, a new culture and language. I am also expecting to gain a better understanding of what it means to have two cultures. This will be useful in the field of psychology. In all a student exchange programme would be a life experience and an enjoyable way of learning a new culture and language.
