For most of the next week, House seems caught halfway between his real personality and his broken one.  He’s not sleepwalking through his days; Wilson hears almost no sanctimonious pronouncements about the importance of paperwork and clinic duty, and he begins turning on the TV on his own.  But at the same time, he’s ( Read more... )

House is going to get therapy voluntarily. Hip, hip, hooray.

Interesting choice of words for the abuse - "My dad would do something stupid." I've wondered how much of the abuse Blythe saw. She must have seen the verbal abuse but I thought the extreme punishments might have been somewhat invisible to her. If not, it's telling that House doesn't blame her.

Yeah, it would make more sense if Blythe didn't know about the abuse, but how can you not notice your son's being made to sleep outside? I see her more as having chosen not to see/think about it. (Which of course is just my assumption, not anything actively supported by anything in canon.)

Yes you do have to wonder:

Daddy House: Honey, how much ice have we got?

Yeah, and--more seriously--if your pissed-off husband is hauling your son up to the bathroom to punish him, you really ought to be suspicous, even if you don't know exactly what he's doing up there.

Yes, I wish I could do more with House's childhood history--I think his dad's treatment of him kind of softened him up for Luerssen's abuse. But I can't think of an IC way to get him to talk about it, except for the occasional obliwue reference.

"obliwue" means "oblique," if you didn't guess.

Great new chapter! I like House in therapy but you are knowing I like your whole story *smile*. Maybe my thoughts are completly uninteressting !than: don´t read more of this comment! I think House should keep working with Temas longer but I guess he changes his mind about the next date with Temas. Maybe Wilson can make his good influence on him and nudge him to make a step in the right direction to keep the therapy how long he´ll needs it. Okay, forever ;-) I guess because it seems he has a lot of problems caused of the abuse. Maybe I´m really sick (I´m not only suffering about a very lazy LITTLE brain) but I love House suffering, I love he can´t accept Wilsons love and help to him, I love his strange personality in this story ... and I love your writing-style. *embarassed smile* Okay I shut up and enjoy your story.

Taking the two of them to Chuck E. Cheese would be a riot.

Possibly literally.

Loved this line :-) And the rest of the chapter. At the end of this fic, I'll be really sorry to see Temas go... hope he gets to make guest appearances in one of your other fics, sometime.

Excellent. I like how Temas is starting to use Lee as a guess to what House is like normally. The part about why House needs to get Wilson away from him was very sad, espcially the spineless idiot bit because it does make sense that is how Wilson's actions could be seen by outsiders.
