I think the generation after the one we have will either fall or become puritan. Look at where we are. We have liars in top seat. We can't easily go about daily life without doing something we know is wrong but can't change. Looking at where our culture divides right now it seems our children will either think that life is easily done, or is to constantly fight what comes naturally. Either thought will, by nature, go farther than the one before.
Look at the past. Judging by history, the next generation will take what we own in our actions and completely implode. Or they'll figure it all out. They'll see through the bull-shit. They'll make a guilt-free life something one doesn't have to "do" but you can just be.
I'm not going to say which I'm betting on.
I'm just going to morn the shitty lives my children will have to live.
I mean seriously. One can't possibly believe the children of this generation, 20-28yr olds, will turn out okay...
First: they will be in two age categories. This generation will need sub-groups. The ones born to the 'teens' and the ones born to the 'planners'. Theirs will either be the lives were moms are too young or those where immune systems are shot by fertility drugs.
Who misses the days when babies born too young died? Now we never know! We think they'll die. But the fact that so many haven't because of medical research and prayer makes it so that we can't be real with the parents we encounter. We have to wish and hope and over-science them into life. And what a life it will be.
Sure, people have always had retarded children. But I don't know that there has ever been a time where retarded children have been so wanted. Never by the parents. They're close enough to know better. But communication and science as it is... so many people hoping a child keeps living that will have a 40 IQ and a seizure disorder. And a real one. One where government money will have to be involved.
Government money that we fight to pay. My paycheck goes to pay for it. Chunks of it. Large ones. I'm not saying I don't want to pay it. I work with these people. You take away the money they use to stay alive and I will hurt you.
But what of our taxes goes to that? I feel like I can't trust my government to send my taxes where my priorities are. Especially when those around me don't share my priorities. Sure, they see what's right too, but they care about a different faction of what that see as right. And some of them don't vote. And sometimes when they do the way phrases are communicated throughout the pubic fairway and the way they are inclined to believe makes them vote for the opposite ticket. Everyone has to give a little somewhere when they vote. Sometimes that somewhere just leads to the other party.
Well, that's not true. You could vote for the ticket that has no hope. Well, I suppose if you are creative you can construe hope. If that is your priority.
This leads me to think about the ass-backwards way-that we somehow can't improve on-that we use govern ourselves.
How could another generation of miscommunication be better? Think about the children who imitate the people who sit by. Or those who imitate the radicals. Since there seems to be no middle, how will sanity prevail?
Next: Religion.
