Title: Metal and words, 1/16
Author: Aletheia Felinea
Beta: Within a year and half, this fic turned out a serial beta killer. All the more I'm grateful to compassrose7577, who put a lot of care and effort into making my English acceptable. The very first reader of the translation was fiquet, I took also her opinion into consideration.
Rating: PG-13 overall

My compliments on the writing style! This reads like poetry, tinged with danger.

Thank you so much, the style matters a lot for me. The compliments are due to the beta! I hope it's worth to read more.

Well, here we go. I like very much some of Jack's little habits you've pointed out. And I am very curious as to what comes next. There's a nice rhythm to the story, both fast and slow, kinda how I think life might have run back in that day. More please.

*melts* You know the last words are a writer's dream.
I'm happy you like my Jack. Writing him well is one of my greatest concerns in this fic, maybe the greatest.
I'm not quick in writing, but there certainly will be more!

It's great to see this in print, and something so original at that!! We've not seen these waters charted in a very long time. And you can't imagine how happy I am to hear that you've achieved it without the demise of a single beta!

You've Jack to a tee here. Seeing him in his day-to-day is fun. As the others have already pointed out, there is a lilt to the words which seems to parallel that odd cadence to Jack's step. The irony is too precious.

Good stuff! Can't wait for the next.

Thank you for a word! Having all technicals done, it's wonderful to hear the reader's opinion from you. And yes, hopefully no more betas will fall a victim to this fic, next to poor Hans. *g*

It's a huge relief and a great joy to hear that my Jack is convincing. As for his day-to-day, I must confess it's what I like in fics, in reading and writing, for characters, like Jack, and for places, like Tortuga. I can promise more of this in next chapters, let's only hope it will be still fun.

Can't wait for the next.
Me too! :-D

What a fascinating beginning, and style, too -- love how you draw the atmosphere of Tortuga, and Jack seems just right, which is so important, of course.

All of Tortuga knew that anyone who sat down to cards with Jack Sparrow rose broke, but amused as never in a life.

That's our Jack, all right.

The final bits are very intriguing. Looking forward to seeing where this leads.

This sentence somehow came to me long before the fic, and you have no idea how long I wanted to use it somewhere! I love Jack like this. *g*

I'm really so happy you like it and want more!

Jack says indignantly "It's Captain Rascal!" ;D

And 'Captain Rascal' suits him really well!

Yup, that's why he's great for writing about. *g*
