I admit that I laughed at parts of the wedding because it was so ridiculous, but looking back it serves no purpose. It's not even a really good idea. The sharks were kinda cool, and I'm okay with them being there because it was a fun action scene. Shansa is surely a victim of editing. Or the writer didn't get why Tia Dalma was so effective in DMC - she also had only two scenes, but they were important ones in the middle (to get the whole plot going forward and leading into the big action sequences) and then at the very end with her serving as a breathing space for the devastated crew and also bringing Barbossa back. Shansa only does exposition which usually was Gibbs part. XD And she looks cool.

I think one of the the biggest problems is that the writer didn't really grasp what made Jack work so well before. Seeing him hit rock bottom is a cool idea (why would fandom have so many angsty fics otherwise) but he doesn't actively get himself out of it (which was usually the case before). And that's why he feels so flat. Depp actually tries most of the time to make him into the old Jack, it's not his problem - he just didn't have much clever stuff to work with. :(

CtB, I was beside myself when I noticed. I saw it wason AO3 and left a comment and of course only then decided to check other comments... She's actually working on it and it's only three chapters left and wheeee! :D I'd given up hope to see this work of perfection finished but it will be - and it'll be great closure, I think.

They were, but I'd like to get some 'why' and 'how' about them... Just some 'in universe' reason for them to be there. As it were, they had only 'out of universe' reason - being cool.

Exactly!

Same here! :)
