Need for beta

Feb 11, 2011 20:06

I'm asking for help. Well, as in the title, I'm looking for a some good soul willing to be the beta reader for me.

A little of details you can want to know about me and the 'to-do':

ProblemsFirst and foremost, English isn't my first language, as you can undoubtedly see. Most of my fics I write in my own language (Polish) and then translate. The ( Read more... )

Do you want me to put a link to your request in my LJ? It might help to find a beta. And what genre/rating are the stories you need a beta for?

Oh my...! Thank you for so kind offer. Course, I'll be very grateful for any help. :)

Genre... nothing unusual, I think. PotC near-to-canon fics, mostly gap-fillers, similar to the linked, focused on Jack & Piratey Co. Can be named Gen, I think? The multichapter is a crime story. Well, I hope it can be count as one... Ratings - I don't rather write nothing above PG-13.

I might be able to help a little bit. I'm VEEEEERRRRRY slow--since I have papers to edit and grade all the time. One the other hand, I teach college English, so I should be able to help with the grammar and idiom. If you weren't in a big hurry, I could try to squeeze your work into the cracks in my grading schedule.

Oh! I'd be honoured! I wouldn't like to waste your time, though. (Especially if it can be the time for your fics ;) triskellion volunteered to help me, and we're just working on one drabble.

But I have more (longer) texts, and there is at least a few very troublesome cases, for example a character's name or fragments of dialogue, and I have to be sure it will be understandable properly. Many views to compare would be priceless for me. In such cases, could I write to you, with ask for opinion?

I'll help if I can, but I might not turn things around quickly as I've got two sagas running and I've just started a new contract. But if, as you say, you don't write quickly then I'd do my best not to keep you waiting too long. I'm a Brit so that's the English you would get, and my own stuff would show you how I write if you wanted to check out my style before accepting.(I don't have a beta so there is no one else to blame.)

Oh my, I didn't expect so many offers, it's wonderful. :)
Thank you very much for interest. I'm working already on a drabble with triskellion, but in other waiting texts I have a few problematic things for which I'd need to compare many opinions (mostly if they are easily understandable and not confusing). In such cases, could I write to you?
