So, Ellizar got a kitty at the Adopt-a-pet at the Detroit Zoo. He's so cute!! I helped pick him out, and I'm rather satisfied with the decision. We named him Astor, after Astor Piazzolla, the Argentinian tango composer.
Piazzolla is the kind of music you listen to in a darkened room with a cigarrette half-hanging out of your mouth. Helping you absorb the libertango is very hot woman somewhere in the vicinity of your fingertips.
The cat is not sexy, but will probably find a winsome way to create his own namesake. He's a small male, light cream-colored, with a very sweet demeanor and who likes to cuddle. Since my family can no longer find justification in adopting more cats, (we already have six) it is nice to know that we can convince others to do so.
In other news, the Ferndale recreation department called me last week to tell me there IS an opening in their staff this summer. I interviewed for the position on thursday and I thought it went very well. I will hear back from them on monday whether I got the job. I hope this is the case, because I do feel I did a good job, and would do very well working for them.
There's so much light out, even this late at night. Last night, I stood under the crabapple trees outside our house and just inhaled. Such a wonderful smell. I love spring. I love green grass, I love the feel of new leaves between my fingers. I hate Michigan up until this point every year, then I think, "oh yeah, there's a reason why I still live here."
I think I may actually finish my story this summer. I feel I have new inspiration, and if nothing else, writing witty angst-prose was always theraputic. Takes a crazy dame to know a crazy dame, right?
Becky, you owe me a phone call. We have some picture-taking to do with my new camera phone.
