Darkdance

Since getting my Sansa mp3 player I've been aggressively hunting up new music. I've been in the mood for electronic, ambient, dancey music: probably because it's good to walk to. Not everything I've found has a bouncy beat but just clarifying nothing I'm about to talk about next is anywhere close to Classic Rock.

First a tip: Imogen Heap is releasing a new album soon. US distribution is kind of up in the air at the moment though, other than (apparently) ITunes. She's released the first single on Youtube (it's a title screen video).

An album I bought from Amazon recently is Strobelite Seduction by Kaskade. What grabbed me is that it appeared that Sophie B Hawkins was doing guest vocals on 2 of the tracks. That was pretty much enough to seal the deal right there. (I still haven't confirmed if it was her, but if it's not, she's been cloned. The voice and phrasing are pretty unmistakeable.) There's no proper music video for it, but again, a title screen video is available:

Here's a "real" video for the first single from that album, Move for Me. Alas, no Sophie on this one, but it's a good dance tune.

I really liked the album overall and I will be buying some of his back catalog, I'm quite sure.

Another new artist I've discovered of late is Kosheen. I picked up their most recent album, Damages. Kosheen's lead singer sounds a lot like Roison Murphy to me, though the music is more like something a really pissed Imogen Heap would program while collaborating with Ladytron.

I found a vdeo for Not Enough Love but I'm not sure if this is fan or official:

Here's a title screen video for another track, Out of this World:

I also recently picked up Paul Oakenfold's latest, Perfecto Vegas, because it was a 2 CD set on sale as mp3 downloads for FOUR BUCKS. However that sale's over and I haven't really had a proper listen to it yet.
