Well now that it is over and gone for another year, I thought I should update on what I *did* get finished...
The red linen dress got done, was very happy with it, it was comfy to wear and it did up well with no huge bunching or gaping! Yay! The sleeves didn't actually get finished though. THe only thing left to do is hand sew the cuff shut! Slack I know, but I honestly couldn't be bothered the day I wore it...
The black velveteen almost got done. I got the sleeves done and sewn up and the hem done and thought I had it finished in time to wear it for the Stowe Feast on the Saturday night, however, I forgot that I had unpicked it to fix the front hem, and that I hadn't sewn all the lacing rings on it (I had done enough to lace it shut to work out the hem!) and of course I didn't realise this until I put it on to get dressed for dinner... bugger. I went with it as it was, but it didn't do up properly and gapped, which I wasn't happy with, so that to fix..
The household cotehardie? Well I tried to put sleeves in, and the cut of the armhole wasn't right, and it pulled funny and within about 3 minutes was really uncomfortable. So I made the decision to not bother with sleeves and wear it sleeveless. so the arm holes got sewn shut and all I had to do was the hem... which didn't get done.... So much to X's upset it didn't get worn, however I plan to have it finished for Flametree Ball. I have a statement to make!! And of course that gives me just over a month to fiddle with it and get it right!
There are of course new plans on the drawing board. Pat got a copy of the talioring book at Fesitval, which has lots of Burgundian stuff in it, so I plan to make X some spiffy garb. The stuff he has is okay, but falls into the 'medievalish garb' and i want him to have some period stuff (he previous sewed his stuff so took the costume pattern route, because if was easy for him! which is fine, but now he doesn't need to sew his own stuff!!)
So a happy little camper planning ahead....
