So as to avoid another brag post,

there will be actual content here, too (though it's introspective).

But first I'd like to point out that I am on Google News for two different stories right now. (Hertz and MCM.) Sure, it's not the society page, but what can you do?

My college situation is indecision. You see, I had been set on UCSB for a while, partly because it's a great place, and partly because I had never heard an argument for Harvard that didn't start with the words "of course." And I don't like defaults and assumptions. But then a combination of visits, cool grad students (what are the odds of being able to talk both The Prisoner and vegetarianism with a random physics grad?), and pestering friends changed that. (Also, the libraries appeal to the Borges in me.)

Here's how my father broke down the problem (critical step: framing the problem; structure is inherited from initial view) - "You'd be more comfortable in Santa Barbara. I don't know if that's what you want." I agree, and I don't know if that's what I want, either. Life would be easier for me at Santa Barbara - I don't think there's any doubt about that. I more experience than most incoming students, wouldn't have to compete for an advisor, etcetera. But would I work better in a situation like that, or one where I have to struggle? As someone who hasn't had to struggle much, I don't know.

Waiting is until fullness.
