Well, 2012, whattya know?

Greetings all, I hope everyone had a Christmas and New Year that was more of the celebration and less of the fighting with the family.

Since I updated last we moved into our new house, which is nice, I'm just glad to have some space after years of sub-standard housing.

Anyway, I had to work the New Years. Occasionally I'm roped in to do "special events" management (protip, there isn't going to be a Mayan apocalypse in 2012 because it is not on the special events calendar :-P)

This year I did New Years Eve at the Magical Mushroom Kingdom, Omphalos of Melbourne, with an estimated quarter millon crowd. Man, by the end I was beating them back with my clipboard and wishing I had something a little more powerful. What a utter crush. We were hauling half-fainting children and babies out of this seething, sweaty mass of people, and they were so distressed, I mean, who the fuck takes kids to the city on New Year's eve? One of my guys had earlier in the night shown me the image that comes up on his iPhone every time I call (SPARTAAAAA!) and I felt just like one of the 300 trying to keep million-man Persian army back. Considering that the staff-to-undead zombie hoardes was just the same, I'm surprised nobody got killed in the crush, though there were a few heart-stopping moments of people falling down escalators.

On more interesting fandom news, I finally caught up with the gloriousness that is TF: Prime. Love the animation, like the best stuff to come out of Bayverse (notibly the OP and Bumblebee designs). At last, canon and fanon intersect with a slimline and pretty Starscream-with-high-heels. I remember a great deal of grumbling on how SS was portrayed in fanon - as being of a certain body-shape that wasn't borne out by the G1 designs. TF:A Star was kind of on the big side, but the Prime SS is a great reimagining, and the best representation of the character in a lot of fen's head-canon I've seen so far.

Well, back to enjoy my ample storage space and functioning air-conditioner. I'm working on a RLD update as we speak. Toodle Pip!
