Well, the wall's are starting to crumble in around Don, aren't they? What's going to happen when he doesn't bring his "informant" in for Wright?

And now Charlie is there - there to suggest Don try to contact the Winchesters! I love how everyone in this story is skirting around the issue of trust - can Don trust Dean, does Dean fully trust Don, Charlie wondering if his brother's previous experience with Dean Winchester is an indicator of the hunter's trustworthiness. If they want to save Sam and catch the killer, they are going to have to find some trust somewhere, fast. The thing is I trust you and I know this is going to be great. See you again tomorrow.

Trust is a big point. Don has had issues with that in the past and here he has to trust a wanted fugitive that he has had physical encounters with in the past not to mention causing him actual pain in the process. He has trusted Dean, to a point, in the past and been seemingly been betrayed ("Doubt"). I think that is something he cannot forget.

I really like the POV here. In Don's eyes, Dean will always be dangerous, scary and untrustworthy, even if he provisionally trusts him on this case. The dangerous and scary part are all true but ignored when the story is from the Winchesters' POV.

Poor Don. He's so far over the line he can barely see it from where he's standing. That makes his colleagues just as dangerous to him as the serial killer. *g* Awesome!

It's fun to see the Winchester's from an outside POV, particularly that of law enforcement. The Winchesters cross that line so often, by impersonation and by activities that appear down right criminal that may seem justifiable in their hunts but what about to those that don't believe in that 'supernatural' stuff?

Don is in a bit of a pickle, isn't he?

The way Don views Dean, and dealing with a Winchester as opposed the usual interaction we get in crossovers is so much more realistic, and so amazing. Don still half believes Dean's crazy but he just can't afford to take the risk.

And Woah, the way Don is determinedly not blaming David is impressive, he is keeping his moral standards though I don't know as I agree with him. Don has gone out on a limb for his whole team too many times for David to be rushing to the boss with a discrepancy. He should have tried to corner Don again. IMO, but then, grins, I'm not an agent. I wanted to tell you that I'm impressed right down to my boots with this fic. Excellent, excellent story. :D -SB

Despite what has happened to him in the past with the Winchesters I can't see Don simply accepting whatever Dean tells him and wholeheartedly siding with him. Don will trust Dean only so far and with a whole heap of caution.

Don is less than impressed with David but he understands that his personal issues are less important at the moment than catching the killer. On another level he understands that whether David went to Wright or Wright went to David, David was only doing the right thing. David has mentioned in the past that he does things the way he sees as right, this can include raising the issue or admitting something is wrong with Don and his informant when asked.

Charlie still remembers Dean as one of the fake FBI agents, although I imagine by now Dean has told him the truth(?) His experience with them is so different than Don's. And I imagine he's intrigued by the occult symbols as a novel system to analyze. This story has completely claimed my day off!

Don told Charlie who they were just after the fake FBI agent bit but yes, his experience with them is a bit different to Don's even though he knows enough of what happened. His personal experience is different as you say and I'm sure he does find the symbols intriguing even if he has a hard time believing that any of it could be real.

I hope you had some time on your day off to do other things too!

:-( It's more than half over. I'm digging it. I'm loving the FBI pov/happenings too.
